One thing that bothers me a little bit in the PT after watching the OT again is the use of location. Don't get me wrong, Lucas created some amazing new settings for the PT. But I feel in the OT he definitely made better use of connecting the story to it's setting. The setting was a more integral part of the story where in the PT they are a mixture of various places where things take place.

For example, when I think about EPIV I think of Tattoine and the Death Star. When I think about EPV I immediately picture Hoth, Degobah, Cloud City. EPVI I again think Tattoine, Endor, the New Death Star. Each movie a distinct look and feel.

The PT jumps around from Tattoine, Coruscant, Naboo, Kashyyk, etc.

I think the new technology available to Lucas made it too easy for him to create new locations and perhaps worked against him a bit.

Strilo edit: We have enough threads about what went wrong. Please use one of them.
