    Slan, all!

For those who don't know me, I'm the crazed fool who has volunteered to archive the whole thing, and any related stories as well. I'm in the process of doing this, but I am also looking to discuss the possible future of the USJS stories.

So first off, I'm hoping to get the permission of the authors to archive their work. I'd like to link author profiles on the site, so i need the data from each writer: what do you want me to put down about your work on the series? In order to give you a rough idea of what I had in mind, I'm working feverishly on some draft pages, to give a sense of what we can do. (I'm using the project to teach myself html and web publishing, so pardon me if there's a lot of oddities here: reinventing the wheel and all that! :) ) I'll post the URL here and in the current story thread when I have it ready: I'm aiming for June 21.

Secondly, as I've been reading back over the stories in preparation for the archiving, there are a number of unfinished plotlines, and I'd like to provide the opportunity for those to be finished off, especially as the exchange student story is drawing to a final close, at the time of this posting. So, any authors who would like to write the interim period for their chracters would be welcome to do so, tying up loose ends for the final archiving. Is anyone interested in doing so?

Thirdly, at various points in the Fourth Book, people have asked what about the future. Rani Veko suggested doing an Early Years thread, and there's been some support for that idea: looking at the characters ten years before USJS (which would be twenty before TPM), and actually sharing some of that backstory that's been hinted at in the story. Another suggestion was top do a Where Were You When...? thread: where was your character when the events of TPM took place? How about AOTC?

So, this is our discussion forum: let's get to discussing! All ideas are welcome, and I hope to see some old and familiar faces here...

    In Service,

    *Derisa Ollamhin*

I just wanted to tell you that you were doing an excellent job of writing K'vel for me in the wrap-up, Derisa.

Just let mw know exactly what you want and I'll see what I can do to scrape together enough time to do it.

Hello to Derisa and everyone else.

WELL! I feel like it's been almost a lifetime since I wrote at the USJS and even wrote all my subsequent spinoffs. Wow...when I look back....the memories...

Anyway, I have not been good w/keeping constant tabs on the current USJS thread going but from the catch up I've been doing, Derisa, you've done a great job of putting together all the loose ends. I'm very happy to see that the thread won't just teeter off somewhere but will have a definite conclusion.

As for me and my small bit of contribution to the legacy, please feel free to archive whatever I put up on old threads and if you need any more info. Derisa, please feel free to email me.

    Such nostalgia guys!

I would be happy to help with all of the suggested writings: 10 years ago (I'm very curious to pursue some things hinted within Tobias's past), as well as post USJS as we know it, as well as interim stuff for your site. Just let me know! :)

So many plotlines have been built up and then abandoned in mid-arc, mostly because the authors seem to have left the JC completely. I don't see much hope for those loose ends getting tied up, I'm afraid.

I'm in a quandry as to participation in any future thread. Ten years before USJS would see Jane isolated from all the other characters with no hope of any interaction whatsoever. And the TPM era has never interested me in any of my writing. I don't like to dwell on Qui-Gon's death; I prefer to concentrate on the years before, when he is alive and well. AOTC? Then we'd have to mention Anakin. NOO!

There are times when I wished I had taken the chance to write a Jedi character who goes to a 'normal' school.

    You kill me, juwanna! :)

The unfinished arcs are sad to read, because there were some really interesting ideas started... I'm aware of the difficulties in getting in touch with *all* of the authors, but I'm doing what I can to trace them all down.

Jane, I would hope that anyone who authored an exchange student, or who wasn't happy with their first character (or whose character would be too young to be much more than an occasional cameo) but who wants to participate in the Early Years thread would create a new character to do so.

I think with discussion in our forum here, and basic plotlines outlined so people can write their parts with a vague idea of what's going on, we can avoid some of the prolems the original threads encountered, but still regain that wonderful synergy that happened with the first threads.

There are many backstories that were hinted at: Kithera's closeness with her Master; the Dani/Kirstan/Nicholae/Mihael story; Rani's problems with bullying and discipline; T'lor and Rani's developement into the Disorderly Duo :)... lots of stories that could be told in an Early Years thread.

I understand not wanting to dwell on Qui-Gon's joining with the Force, Jane, trust me, I do. I was one of those who kept watching the movie hoping the ending would change. :( He was such a great character. :)

Still, I think it would be illustrative to see some of the stories between USJS and that wonderful thread, Letters to Those Who Will Listen, that detailed the end of many of the USJS characters. The Where Were You When thread idea was to give a starting point for those, and a unifying theme around which to write the stories.

Anywho, keep the dicussion going, y'all, I'll be sending out some PMs and emails this weekend, to get some more responses.

I have two pages left to do for the draft Archive, and am getting some html and networking help early next week to have them published: I will put the link here when it's ready.

    Chat soon!

I'm glad to see that USJS will live on...there are some in RL who can't believe I would write fanfic, so to have some place to send them to view the proof will be great. :D

As for participating in future threads whatever the SW time frame, I'm game but I have very little in the way of free time (4 hours of commuting a day and a 1 yr. old will do that to you). :) I don't want to commit to a thread and then go MIA as unfortunately happened in USJS.

I think both threads will work out well. Jane, perhaps (depending on how far back this thread goes) you could chronicle Qui-Gon's discovery of Jane and the controversy that Derisa hinted to in Part IV. Besides, you can always borrow characters, or perhaps become our Jedi Council. There is always a place for those who are willing to write.

ah, I remember joining the USJS way back in the day when it was nothing but a quirky idea by someone... I made a character, Karn I think, and had fun with him. Unfortunately, I got caught up with RL and when I came back USJS had gone on without me, leaving me with no idea what to do or who to socialise with, as all of Karn's "buddies" went on in new plots. Ah, well.

Musical and Derisa; those are good ideas and make me want to start writing. If only I weren't going to be travelling soon. And, if all else fails, I could write about An-Paj and his wives, or wives-to-be. :)

Revised date on the USJS draft pages: looks like July eighth. I'll work on it, till then, but I won't get the tech assistance I need till I get back from my hols...

Loka! Awesome to see you, dude... so here's a great chance to see what an author can do now that the whole thing is written (I'm working on the very last two posts of the first existence of the USJS)... Have a read over the first chapter, Loka, and if you can see places in other's storylines where Karn fits, see if you can write him in. Don't worry about timeframe: the edited Archive will be in the right order.

That's what I meant by finishing off all those plot arcs: if an author has the inclination, and wants to participate, even after the fact (provided they were in the story to begin with), there's no reason we can't edit them into the Archive. A lot of people got left behind in the same way, this would be a way to include their full ideas... what does everyone think about that? It does mean the USJS saga would change and grow, slowly, and mostly in subtle ways, but hopefully evolve to a more finished end product. I'd love to read feedback on this idea, and if he's willing, maybe Loka could try the experiment out and share the results here.

Anywho, I'm actually supposed to be delving through my papers to find my birth certificate so I will have less hassles crossing into the US on Friday: I'm going to visit Albion for a few days. Lots of travelling in our bunch this month, hey? :)

Catch you all on the flip!

    Hey all,

I don't know about writing Kithera's back story. I have been thinking about it over the last couple of days and although there are certainly many things that I would love to do, I simply don't know if I have the time (or the writing ability) to actually produce more then a two paragraph post every two months.

Saying that however, I would still like to try it simply because it might get my writer's block to back off! :D

    Kithera

P.S; That Derisa for that Happy Birthday message on my b'day, really made my day!

Loka: here's the link to the very first thread: The Ultra=Stressed Jedi Students

See what you can do with that, and by all means share your ideas and questions here with us. :) I'm thrilled you're willing to try it out! :)

Kit': You're welcome! Was it a happy birthday? As to writing for the story, if we did an early years one, I think if you were to do even just the occasional post, and maybe note where your ideas are going in the discussion thread, we could all work together to develop the character... :) Kit's a great character, and it would be really great to see her grow up alongside Rani and T'lor.

Working on the next, last posts. I should have something ready to post this weekend, on my author's hiatus to Albion's place. I will check in on occasion.

Slan all. It's late, and I'm tired, so I'm keeping this short.

The last story post for the USJS saga is up.

Not a whimper, but with a bang, I hope.

    Hmm...

I sort of have a tentative idea about writing a back story for one of my non-Jedi characters I had in USJS. For those who have super human memories, might remember Cassel Benlar, the Governor's son and at the beginning of his stay, a royal brat. He was probably my second character created for USJS.

It's an idea but would largely depend on exactly how the new thread was set up. Time, place, unifying story instead of several plot arcs?

    Hi all.

I was sent here by a West Wing fanfic board. Apparently something was posted about tracking down USJS authors? Thought I'd find out what was going on.

Loved the ending to USJS. Fabulous job. Made me wonder why I stopped reading SW fanfic. (Read a few love triangle stories and remembered right away :) but it was fabulous.)

Depending on how the story was set up, and if any one was willing to work with me, I'd be willing to give a hand to the early years. Anything to give me some incentive to write Star Wars...

email me if anything's going to happen, and if you need/want info on me or my characters for the archive, email me too.

YaY! Hey Daphne! Long time no see!

I'd have to agree, I loved the ending also. :) It is sort of odd, though to see an actual ending to the story...it always seemed to be one of those *eternal* things
