What no discussions on these "franchises"?
V, the famous eighties series about lizards trying to take over the Earth.
Space Above and Beyond, the nineties Earth vs. Chigs
Enemy Mine, Man and Alien on a planet where they have to survive.

    *eyes light up*

I LOVE V!!! I keep wishing for a modern day version of it that revisits, Diana, Juliet, Mike and company.

That really was one of the best Sci - Fi miniseries of all time.

Can't say anything about the others though. It's been years since I've watched Space and I've never seen Enemy Mine.

Enemy Mine is basically a chick flick that has aliens in it. It's hilarious.

*chuckle* Not a chick flick :p

I saw Enemy Mine once... If I remember, I found it ok but not great. The original story by Barry B. Longyear is infinitely better, one of my favorites. I have it packaged with other similar stories and stuff of his in a book called "The Enemy Papers"-- very excellent and intelligent commentary on the nature of war, clanism, and competing races/cultures.

I heard a rumor that another V mini was in the works. Not sure on how true that is.

I'm currently watching Space: Above and Beyond on DVD. It's really a shame, because I personally think Fox sabotaged that show because of Chris Carter's power. He didn't want his two best guys on the X-Files (Glen Morgan and James Wong) distracted from the peak of X-Files-dom. It was a really good show, IMHO.

When it was on, it seemed to always get pre-empted by OT games, or extra coverage by the NFL. Hell, I never saw the finale, because we had issues with the local FOX station having transmission problems.

It never got the chance to survive, IMHO.

I hated Enemy Mine...Was too boring, IMHO.

Enemy Mine was a bad attempt to make a political statement about racism in society.

Kinda like Alien Nation, but slightly less obvious.

I wish sci-fi would stop trying to put these insane analogies together, and just concentration on making quality movie with reasonable plots.
