Vader´s armor

Probably this subject has been brought before, but I couldn´t find such thread, so...

Is there any in-universe reason for the different armor Vader is using in ANH ???

 

Technology improves over time, so Vader likely modifies his armour, just as he used to modify his droids, starfighters and his mechno-arm as a Jedi.

 

I thought he spilled blue milk down his armour and was getting it dry cleaned. Trying to suck blue milk through a vocabulator is a tragic endeavour.

But isn´t he using the same armor in ROTS and ESB ?? if so, then the tech advancement makes no sense.

 

why can vader's glove arm stop blaster fire but cant hold off a lightsaber? isnt a lightsaber a frozen blaster?

 

Razzy, you are about to open up a can of worms that I don't think you want to deal with. We'll just overlook the glove comment.

Yes...if your looking for logic in Star Wars,its not their,look at teh space abttles,theirs no way they can pull all that they do,their no gravity in space.So the laws of physics cannot apply,lol!

The armor he wore in ROTS was even slightly better than the version in ESB,but was clearly modeled after that version..ANH's armor was very poor and plain,had the tinted red eyes,dull black in color,had no steel- grey highlights,and he had his inner cape going over the upper chest/shoulder armor,almost covering it.

Keep in mind that there is a 4 year gap between ANH and ESB, but only about 6 months between ESB and ROTJ. Just because his suit gets updated, doesn't mean that it gets updated very often. Obiviously whatever researchers are developing his suit were still test/messing around with something.

 

More like Lucas' inconsistancies playing their part.

 

Yes let's blame Lucas because Vader is not allowed to upgrade his armor, he should have been happy with what was given to him in the beginning!

 

Keep in mind that there is a 4 year gap between ANH and ESB, but only about 6 months between ESB and ROTJ.

Three years between ANH and TESB, one between TESB and ROTJ, actually.

More like Upgrades and Downgrades every few years,makes perfect sense.Right!

 

Here's an answer. It's because Lucas had a better idea of what he'd like Vader to look like so he changed it.

The old Star Wars Technical Journal explains that Vader slightly modified his armor over the years.
