I know somebody has had to brought this up aready, but if you go back and watch ANH, when Obi-Wan and Vader cross sabers, if you pause the frame when they are looking out to the stormtroopers (as they JUST start to run over), Vader's saber is a lot longer than Obi-Wans. We all know what a horrible job the rotoscoping team did (actually it wasnt really their fault, they did the best they could with the technology at the time), but I never really saw this before. It seems Vader's blade is about 10" longer than Obi-Wan's. (for the love of God no jokes about "My saber is bigger than yours.")

Everyone know's this was probably just a really bad screw up, but what do you guys think? Did Vader have a length adjuster?

Im prety sure aders lightsaber is only made from one crystal, wich doesnt allow for a length adjustor. Gantaros's (in the JAT) used three crystals to make his, which allowed him to increase the length

I think it has to do with the angle Obi-Wan's holding his blade at in relation to the angle Vader's holding HIS at. Think in 3D, people.

The first I heard of this was waaaaaaay back when Splinter of the Minds Eye was still a new book. Luke adjusts the blade to a needle-like blade to make an accurate cut to get through a door of some sort.

WATCH CLOSELY in AOTC when Anakin goes to get his mother. When he cuts into the back wall he stands back a bit and points the handle almost like you would if looking through a targeting scope. The blade is obviously longer than normal as he cuts through.

No thats the way they are. Look at Yoda's saber in ROTS. It is MUCH shorter than Palps. Some are just made that way...
