Here is my cheat sheet I made for creating a character in Vampire: The Masquerade. You really need a copy of the book to use this fully.

    ___________________________________________________

    Character Creation page 102

    1. Choose Character concept, or make one up

    2. Choose clan, or none (caitiff)

    3. Choose Demeanor (no effect on rules, for role play)

    4. Choose Nature (also used to determine a character's ability to regain Willpower pts (page 136)

    5. Select Attributes
....(designate the columns to be Primary, Secondary and Tertiary, based on where your character is strong and weak)
........Primary gets 7 dots to distribute
........Secondary gets 5 dots to distribute
........Tertiary gets 3 dots to distribute

    6. Select Abilities (Talents, Skills and Knowledge, must be assigned to be Primary, Secondary and Tertiary)
........Primary gets 13 dots to distribute as you wish
........Secondary gets 9 dots to distribute as you wish
........Tertiary gets 5 dots to distribute as you wish

........No ability may be purchased above three dots during this specific step

    7. Select Advantages
........Disciplines (blood based mystical powers) page 146
................Begin w/ 3 dots, allocated as you choose
................Disciplines purchased with Advantage points must be from the 3 clan disciplines
................Disciplines purchased with Freebie points don't need to be clan disciplines (You get Freebie points later)

........Backgrounds (traits that fit the character concept) Page 129
................Begin w/5 dots, allocated as you choose

........Virtues (moral backbone for character, good for resisting frenzy, feeling remorse)
................Points are lost here as a Vampire grows older (how old?)
    ................Three Virtues:
........................Conscience - governs sense of right and wrong
........................Self-Control - how readily you can maintain your composure and contain your Hunger
........................Courage - Measures 'gumption', ability to withstand proximity of fire, sunlight, etc.
................Start with 1 dot in each Virtue
................Then distribute 7 more dots as you wish

    8. Determine Humanity
........This is the sum of your Conscience and Self Control traits, yielding a score between 5 and 10
........(if you are on a different path than Humanity, Consult the appendix on page 286 to determine your Path score)

    9. Determine Willpower
........This equals your Courage rating, and ranges from 1 to 5
........This is also used to resist frenzy, undertake daunting tasks, and power certain Discipline effects

    10. Assign Freebie Points (15 points, dot cost below)
    ........Attribute......5 per dot
    ........Ability..........2 per dot
........Discipline......7 per dot (need not come from Clan Disciplines)
    ........Background...1 per dot
    ........Virtue...........2 per dot
    ........Humanity......1 per dot
    ........Willpower......1 per dot

    11. Roll blood pool- you start with 10 possible, what you roll is what you have 'in you'

    12. 'Spark of Life'- flesh out your bio, your description, why your character looks that way on paper. See page 107

That is as far as I got. There is some more involved, involving Merits and Flaws, but the above will get you started.

Sorry about the wierd formatting with the dots, I didn't know how else to space things out.
