Aren't you used to getting creamed by a team wearing green and gold?

yeah, they arent doing that well.

to be brutally honest, and not just because i am miffed about the bonus point fiasco, new zealand really never had a hope of winning against south africa.

and to add to the results, the south african players seem to be getting into good form for the return test series. that means hard work for the aussies.

I was about ready to boo the New Zealand openers at the start.

Just dropped a catch. A few more quick wickets are needed.

I think Australia will refocus after their inept performances this Summer. Maybe a reshuffle in the selectors to boot.

Well, it's all over for another year. *Sniff*

Shane Bond was a bit of a bolter I reckon. Still, it makes no difference in the end.

    Good luck with the Poms.

You're in the tipping comps aren't you?

I'll get that all underway in a couple of weeks, btw.

    nope, not me.

for one, my work doesnt have tipping comps...i am at a hospital.

for two, i no longer follow the football codes closely enough to bother with that. i am concerned with my roosters and swannies, and thats about it.

i used to be pretty good though. in around 1994, i have close to an 80% success rate in tipping.

Hey, I'll do that Tipping thing this year.

I wonder if Mark Waugh will still be playing by the end of the South African One Day series.

The Aussie one-day team was actually playing well at the end of the series. The problem was the all-rounder was not producing (ie Harvey/Symonds) so there was an extra long tail. Harvey had to be played as a bowler, not an allrounder, despite good domestic form. Also Warne got belted around the park.

As far as the Aussie team goes for Sth Africa, my team would be:
    Gilchrist
    M Waugh/ Hayden
    Ponting
    Martyn
    Bevan
    S Waugh
    Lehmann
    Harvey/ Shane Watson
    Warne/ MacGill
    Gillespie/ Lee
    McGrath

That team has extra batting depth, plus good bowling. I would not bowl S Waugh or Bevan, but get 10 out of MArtyn/Lehmann, who is underrated.
I think Mark Waugh will pull through, but I don't see either Waugh playing past next Aussie summer.

Nah, I was just asking if SI was in the tipping comps here. There will be a league tipping competition set up very soon. Probably about two weeks from now when there's two weeks till the opener. If you would like to be involved, just keep an eye open.

Woohoo epic is on board!!! Are you going to just go through the first month or so only again? :)

I've had a few PMs so far, so hopefully this will be the best ever comp.

Ooh Tipping! looking forward to it again. :D Northern Districts just hammered the Poms. They scored 288 off 50 overs and ND came back with a fantastic 293 with 5 balls to spare. Oh Yeah!

Good to see the Poms downed!

And the tipping competition will be the best ever. We just need more people involved this year. It's great with the number's we've had, but it's important to grow.

It's also Allan Border medal night here. Matthew Hayden will win the test player of the year easily, but I don't know if he'll take it all away. Did he have any one dayers in the sub continent or England? If not, then I have no idea who will win. But they'll need points from both the tests and ODIs to have a shot at the AB award.

Ponting won the points in that series. But Hayden got enough to win it all. Good on him. He's really come back from the point where I didn't care less about him about 2 years ago. He was horrid for Australia in those days.

Steve Waugh is going to lose the ODI captaincy today. It's only a matter of time. Will he retire completely now? ABC news has already ran a story that Gilchrist has been given the nod for the SA OD series.

A very interesting turn of events.

I just heard about that. Quite a sad day for Australian cricket. Maybe he can give NSW cricket a go for a couple of years now. We need it.

Who'll replace him? Everyone has been rumoured so far. Warne, Gilchrist, Ponting, Martyn and a real bolter in Lehman.
