Is it true that Mark Hamill was in a commercial for Vector Prime when it came out? I don?t understand how they?d work him in (voiceover work, I guess, but seems strange). Plus, I don?t think I?ve ever heard of commercials for books before.

They used to have the commercial on the OS. Don't know if it's still there or not. It was mainly a bunch of clips from the OT with Luke saying "I have seen the worst of all wars and the redemption of evil. But now I face a new enemy together with my friends and faithful allies. Only this time, I don't know if we can win" or something to that effect. Then it shows the cover of Vector Prime with another voice saying "on sale now" or something.

Wow that advert's pretty badly written for Luke to be saying...

I rather liked it, actually- it was better than the trailer for Shadows of the Empire.

What was the trailer for Shadows of the Empire like?

It was basicly footage from ESB and ROTJ, with narration, but not from any of the characters- justa vocie over guy.

I wish I could find the VHS recording I made of it when Sansweet debuted it on QVC, but thats probably lost by now.

It's rather ironic- back then it was a rare treat to glimpse the Special Edition trailer, so i was more concerned about watching/taping that then I was the SOTE trailer, and yet now, today, the SE trailer is easily available and the SOTE trailer is impossible to find.

As far as I can tell it is not available online anywhere- I've only come across one website that had the link for it and it's been a broken link for years.

That Vector Prime trailer was pretty nifty until the cheesy, boring, one-dimensional voiceover guy came in at the end.

True. But it was cool overall to have Mark Hamil technically reprising his role as a serious Luke (none of that Holiday Special, muppetts, or Bob Hope variety crap here). I still must see the SOTE trailer, some way, some how! A cool story, it was!

Only thing else I can remember from it was the narration ended with something like "...from the depths of the galaxy, to the shadows of the Empire..."

I believe it was actually on eBay a while back, on a DVD with the holiday special. The moron wanted nearly $30 for it though, so I avoided it. Now that I actually am interested, I can't find it anywhere.

There's no problem with posting the link (unless you're wanting to conserve the hosts bandwidth). I would hardly call an advert a bootleg; we've had links to Star Wars adverts before :)

Good, I'll post the link here tomorrow!

I had asked on the other boards for it, and was told not to ask for it. And... after some intense searching, I got in contact with someone who will send it to me via email. Lucasfilm wouldn't care anyway, they only had shown the thing once or twice in 96', and din't make that big of a deal out of it.

Actually, Snasweet showed a few times at conventions and on QVC, and it would have gotten wider release but they pulled back on that idea at the last minute because they didn't want people to mistakeningly think it was an actual movie coming out, instead of the movie-without-the-movie multimedia project it actually was.
