Solo Vehicles/Tech in the Han Solo Movie

Maybe one is Han's ship before he "wins" the Falcon

 

Yeah, it could be. This fits into what I was talking about in my Post; where I said these ships could be used by a subset faction of the Empire, to go after smugglers and pirates. They could use these smaller Imperial ships to board small freighters (like the Millennium Falcon); just like the coast guard in our world would.

 

Of course they do a truckload of designs for these movies.
Lord and Miller could easily gone "Yeah, nah. But leak 'em just to get a laugh."

 

True. Though I hope not as these are stellar.

 

We seem to have four, maybe five, different versions of the same vessel which all incorporate the same elements and are extremely similar in design (unlike for example the U-Wing). Seems to me that this ship/boat and it's peculiar functionality was one of those that had to be 'just right' so that maybe implies it's importance in the movie?

 

I agree. I hope they use these designs. The good thing IMO; is that the PreProduction Art dept., just like the Rogue One team, have a feel for the Star Wars look.

 

Yup. I believe the leads on the pre-production team were the same leads on Rogue One. Very good sign, as RO is certainly the best-designed film since ESB, IMO.

Oh yeah, I'll totally agree with this. The U-Wing, TIE Striker, Death Troopers, and hovertank (with accompanying pilots) in particular all effortlessly evoke the design aesthetic of the OT while also feeling fresh and new. It's a testament to how much they nailed the designs for that movie that I can see them slipped into Marvel's Star Wars comics in stories featuring Han, Luke and Leia and they feel completely natural.

Man, I'm loving how clunky and dated these vehicles are looking (^especially that one), as if they would have actually preceded ANH in the early 70's or something. Spot on, design team.

 

I'm 99.9% sure that we are seeing different iterations of one ship. Possibly an Imperial customs ship? It looks like it's shaped to lock onto other ships with those hooks.

 

100% for me. One thing is for certain, with those walkways underneath and the open hatches I very much doubt that this thing has a ceiling above a couple of hundred metres.

 

Nice speeder designs. I'm wondering if those clunky looking speeders will have the wheels in the final film? Or are the intentions for those to be CG'd out and they're meant to be hovering?

 

They are just Landspeeders, seen all over the GFFA. So the wheels will go.

 

It's standard Aurebesh writing. LAN something something something. Where did that image come from? I may be able to translate the rest with a larger photo.

Given there's quite a bit of equipment with the diagonal warning marks on them - A vehicle with pincers/grips on the front, possibly a repulsor lift train and various cranes - I'm guessing that it says LANDING (followed by BAY, AREA, etc. and a number). This would fit in with the Freight Terminal vibe that all of the other vehicles allude to.

 

I guess this vehicle belongs to a spaceport.

 

So, what does everyone think about a blue falcon? I personally love the idea! And that means new falcon toys

I'm interested to see what Han flies thorough to strip the paint off.

 

$10 says the ship gets a little worse for wear after making the Kessel Run.

 

I do like that the Falcon looked a little bit different during the PT, Lando and young Han days.
