Nicaragua

Pretty tame. The trouble with this one (like El Salvador) is the coat of arms is far too small, you almost need a telescope to see it! 5/10

Dominican Republic

This one is quite nice. I like the alternating red and blue surrounding the cross, but like its neighbours, the coat of arms is too small. 6/10

Czech Republic

Unlike most European flags, I like how this one breaks up the traditional tricolour with a nice blue triangle. 7/10

Philippines

I love the sun symbol, and the colours are quite nice. What I love about this one is that it's flipped vertically during war time, so the red is at the top. It's a neat idea. 8/10

 

Queen Elizabeth II's flags:

United Kingdom

Fairly straight forward, covers England, Ireland and Scotland. Like the Union Flag, Wales is missing. Design wise, I love the deep maroon used on this version, it goes well with the deep blue and gold. 9/10

Australia

All six states are represented here, so that works. I love the border, it reminds me of a coronation robe. 7/10

Canada

The traditional nations are represented here, along with France which is an interesting link to Canada and the Crown's past. The maple leaves at the bottom are a nice touch. 8/10

New Zealand

All sorts going on here. There's a dead sheep, some wheat, a couple of hammers, some boats and the southern cross. That tells you pretty much all you need to know about NZ! 6/10

Interesting, nice explanation for all the parts of the shield. Though I'm wondering why is it oval shaped - if I remember my heraldry right, the oval shape was used in coats of arms of Church officials...

 

It's a clever mix of the Swedish and Norwegian flag, but why did they mix the two flags and then place them within a bigger Swedish flag?

Anyway, it's a nice design. 7/10

He was just being resourceful!

David Cameron has said he will fly the flag of St George over No 10 during the football World Cup in South Africa.

The prime minister told MPs that the move would not cost anything and he hoped would help unite the nation behind the English team.

No matter what part of the UK they represented, he said he hoped all MPs would be shouting "come on England".

Ehh, I don't think it's a vast improvement. I can't remember if I rated the old one before, but the new one gets 7/10.

 

The colors are more fun this way.

 

How about the old French flag?

A little too DaVinci Code, if you ask me.

 

The old royal one, yeah I love it. Gold on white is a nice scheme, although it's not great for visibility. The fleur de lys design goes all the way back to medieval France, which is a plus.
