I just called the Victorville Chamber of Commerce. They said the VV Christmas parade is always the first Saturday of December and that they'll be posting information about it online next month. I'll keep this thread updated as I get more info. So....

    Mark your calendars!!

    WHEEE!

Hey, the earlier, the better! I only hope they don't wait until the last minute like last year. [face_plain]

Thank you Kari, for doing this. I will mark the day and of course ask for it off.

That reminds me. I need to contact Obi-Shawn and see if he can make it to the parade in the H-Wing.

Of course, the number one priority is having the Falcon there!! In my eyes, she's the pride of the IEFF!!

Ooh, yeah. The Falcon is like a symbol of the IEFF!

My only hope is we don't decide to move thatweekend. [face_tired]

I really need to get the day off. At our cashiers meeting yesterday, our supervisor said they will not let any of us ask for certain days off after October 31. So I may have to call off dead for this one. But I will do. There is no try. I think I messed that line up. Sorry.

Okay, I have a little more info on the parade.

The theme of the parade is: "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree".

I need to get the application in by November 2.

Check-in time on parade day is between 8:15 and 9:00.

The car/float must be decorated before check-in.

We need to make sure we have a car parked at the end of the parade so we can get back to our original transportation.

Cool, the troops can parade with a guitar in hand. If you want to invite 501st/RL be sure to make it clear it's an IEFF event we're inviting them to join in on and that your the head honcho to contact.

I just may be able to make a new costume for this one...

See I'm dressing my two year old nephew up as Luke for halloween this year, so I think it'd be cute if I dressed up as Beru. Since Luke- I mean Joseph, LOL - can't march in the parade, I figured grab a baby doll to go with my costume.

May sound dumb, but that's my idea.

All your suggestions sound great. I wish I had a good costume. Oh, well, Bill can bring his guitar for this one. Sorry I have been off the boards lately, but we had some financial problems
with our phones and internet access. But they are fixed for now.

Okay, gang. I just posted the information about the parade on the RL boards and am headed to the 501st once I post this.

Are we inviting all participants to the dinner afterwards? I didn't post anything about food afterwards because we need to agree on this. If we want to invite everyone, I think we all need to pony up at least $5 per person ourselves so we can cover the cost of paying for our fellow SW brethren.

JM, what are your thoughts on this since you're our official IEFF Hostess? I don't want to put too much pressure on you!

it's ok with me, as long as we're not talking 20 or 30 more people. then we'd have to figure something else out[face_worried]

Sounds like a great plan. We might need to get the funds to JM before this event, though.
