Which won't matter. Those hackers will release more documents anyway. And I'm still not convinced North Korea really hacked anything. I'm more on Wired's false flag theory.

    How Kim Jong-Un Saved Christmas!

Then he growled with his Jong-Un fingers pudgily drumming
I must find a way to stop "The Interview" from coming!

Point Given, is Paramount under fire too? I thought it was just Sony.

I believe Paramount had some documents leaked some months back. Not nearly as bad as the Sony breach, but a breach nonetheless.

Not yet, but banning any showings of Team America seems like they're trying to head off something.

Yeah, Alamo Drafthouse and a few other theaters were going to show it in protest, but then revealed they were contacted by Paramount and ordered not to screen it.

It's a paranoid overreaction. That's all. Paramount doesn't want to be held responsible for an attack on a movie theater any more than Sony does, or they just don't want to get attention at the height of this thing.

I highly doubt North Korea was about to actually attack a theater over this. It's just hot air.

Yeah, no kidding. But it's the reason Sony canceled the release. They were weathering the hacks for a month already and only that threat made them change their minds.

The major theater chains cancelling forced Sony to just cancel the whole thing because at that point, you have the small chains giving it a very limited release and if, some nut job did actually attack one of those theaters, well then it's just more bad press for Sony.

Aurora is still fresh in everyone's minds. And I'm sure some of the theater owners thought about that. But really, they just don't want people being afraid to go to the theater because that theater is screening the Interview. So rather than risk theatergoers staying home in droves during one of their best weekends where two other movies were releasing on top of the Hobbit and Hunger Games, the theaters cut their losses in the hopes people would go see the other films. So mostly a profit driven decision which I can't really disagree with were I in their shoes. It just looks like they are too cowardly to show the film though.

The silver lining to all of this is that Marvel might get Spider-Man back. So that's something at least. :p

Yeah, there was no way Sony was gonna have a good opening when a threat like that was used. Cut their losses. I think it's less they're scared of a terrorist attack and more they're scared of the movie tanking. Even though it looks like they're scared of a terrorist attack.

Perception can become reality. If people believe it was Sony acting scared of a terrorist attack, that could carry more weight or legitimacy than if the real reason was due to the financial loss of the movie at the BO.

Yeah, since the ones in the first batch of leaked documents were so damning and damaging. Ooh, some people think Angelina Jolie isn't particularly talented! I mean, troops were probably put in danger.

Yep, the last Colbert report and then he takes over for Letterman sometime next year.

Tomorrow's the last episode of Craig Ferguson.
