Sorry I missed the meeting the other day. Rob dropped me a line and said folks were curious as to details on the Feb 21 show.

SOUNDSWAP: Special Event ? Video Killed the Radio Star: The History of Music Videos. Clive Young, book author and editor of ProSound Magazine, presents this fast-paced multi-media program which traces the development of the music video from the movie shorts of yesteryear to the big-budget clips of today. Tony Traguardo hosts. 7:30 p.m.

Here's how to get to the library from various places:

From Eastern Long Island (via the Long Island Expressway)
Take Long Island Expressway westbound to Exit 36 (Searingtown Road-Port Washington)
Turn right onto Searingtown Road
Continue north and cross over Route 25A (Northern Boulevard)
Searingtown Road becomes Port Washington Boulevard (same road, different name)
Continue north until you reach the Port Washington Post Office on your right
Turn left onto Main Street
Continue along Main Street. You will see the "Landmark on Main Street" on your left. At the traffic light, make a right into the Library Parking Lot.
From New York City (via the Long Island Expressway)

Take Long Island Expressway eastbound to Exit 36 (Searingtown Road-Port Washington)
Turn left onto Searingtown Road
Continue north and cross over Route 25A (Northern Boulevard)
Searingtown Road becomes Port Washington Boulevard (same road, different name)
Continue north until you reach the Port Washington Post Office on your right
Turn left onto Main Street
Continue along Main Street. You will see the "Landmark on Main Street" on your left. At the traffic light, make a right into the Library Parking Lot.
From the South Shore of Long Island

Take the Meadowbrook Parkway northbound
When Meadowbrook splits, stay left and go toward New York
After the long curve, stay right and exit at Long Island Expressway westbound
Take Long Island Expressway westbound to Exit 36 (Searingtown Road-Port Washington)
Turn right onto Searingtown Road
Continue north and cross over Route 25A (Northern Boulevard)
Searingtown Road becomes Port Washington Boulevard (same road, different name)
Continue north until you reach the Port Washington Post Office on your right
Turn left onto Main Street

From Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, Bayville, etc.

Go south by the most convenient route to Route 25A
Turn right on 25A and go to Port Washington Boulevard (Route 101)
Turn right onto Port Washington Boulevard
Continue north until you reach the Port Washington Post Office on your right
Turn left onto Main Street
Continue along Main Street. You will see the "Landmark on Main Street" on your left. At the traffic light, make a right into the Library Parking Lot.
By Long Island Rail Road from New York City

Take the Port Washington Branch to the last stop
Ride in the first car, if possible
Taxi and bus service available at the station

The N23 bus serves Manorhaven. This bus may be accessed from the Mineola Bus Terminal and the Roslyn LIRR Station, as well as the Port Washington LIRR station.

 

Awesome. The plan (as discussed at the last meeting) is to meet at 5:30 or 6 PM for early dinner at Cheeburger Cheeburger in Port Washington. From there we will trek over to the library and enjoy Clive's presentation. Afterward, we will all go to TGIFriday in Manhasset and have a late dinner. Of course, people should come to as many parts of the event they are able to attend.
