    Championship Match
Grahf vs. Megaman TRUMPED with Zero

ok i spent a lot of time looking at this...i went back to search for shadow's long post...found it...and i really like this trump(as you can see form the last judgement with this trump)...with all that...MM/zero have weapons on top of weapons that will be available for the party, you got the cohesion, durability, and strength...with the armor...i might be speculating...but i would assume that they have a resistance to mental attacks per their helmets ( i just think that they would have that kind technology, i could be wrong)...so Grahf won't get an advantage their...where i start to lean towards Grahf is strength and durability, MM/Zero are very strong and durable but not at the level of Grahf...and as far as all the attacks Grahf brings...i think it's just too much for the trump to handle...close match, very long fought match...but i think Grahf will last a lot longer then MM/Zero...in best of 7 series...Grahf wins 4 -2

    WINNER:
    Grahf

Helmets do not automatically = mental resistance. Only trailer park rubes who put tinfoil on their heads to protect themeselves from alien probing subscribe to that theory.

The fact that they're robots is what makes mental attacks pointless. ;)

I agree with Batpooh. Good analogy to the Jedi Draft there, Shadow. Let's move on though.

Somehow, I doubt that even with prep Snake could bring in anything Sephy hasn't seen before or even anything worse than anything Sephy's seen before. Sephy's probably got too much for Snake, as good as he is and as much as he can bring to the battle.

    Winner: Sephiroth

    Sephy can do Snake easily.

Even prepped I really can't see Snake doing much to Sephiroth

If I were Snake I'd go into hide mode here and leave it at that.

Yeah, fairly good match here. Very much like Big Boss vs. Raziel. Except Solid is a bit better than BB and Sephiroth is a good deal better than Raziel.

Might have. ;) But yeah, good game, bro.

Now we can get started on a real draft. Hopefully this next time we won't have someone like me being allowed to run wild and grab steals at every turn. There'll be measures against that, but we can only do so much. You never can tell when Mario and Princess Zelda are going to be taken in the first round. ;)

Congrats Shadow_of_Durron. You are now the only person on the boards to win three different drafts! (Starfighter, Comic Book, Video Game)

We will start discussion soon. I will be posting topic-by-topic

w00t! Good game, everyone. Really. It was a real mess at times, but I hope everybody had some fun, anyway.

Thanks to Inty for salvaging this thing, and thanks to all of the dozen or so judges we went through. Good job, all.

And now... *sets his sights on the grand slam* [face_mischief]

Now we get ready for the next draft. Inty said he had some topics of discussion to cover before we moved on, and I'm sure he'll post 'em when he gets the chance.

I just hope a few people are still paying attention to this thing. It kinda sucks to have only three or four people contributing to improving these drafts.

Now that this draft is wrapped up, we need to move on to the next draft, where we can improve things. The good news is, we have several good models to follow (Jedi, Starfighter, Comic Book), so there is no need to reinvent the wheel. What needs to be done is tweak/change several things and make this version of the draft game better. I have pinpointed five areas that hindered this version of the draft, and I'd like to address those before we move on. If you have further issues that need addressed, PM me and I'll review them and we'll likely discuss them as well.

Onto the problems that I think hindered the last draft.

    1) The Commish.

At the start of this, it seems that the Commish was in over his head. There was no randomization of the draft order, there was no well-thought-out video-game specific rules, and there were a few other problems.

My Solution: I'll commish the entire draft. This will give not only experience, but continuity as well.

If anyone has a problem with this option (a serious problem, not that you think I have an agenda against you), please voice your opinion.

    2) The Judges.

Wow. This was a mess this draft. It seemed every judge we had lacked either motivation, time, knowledge, or patience (or some combination of these). Not only does this hurt the drafting, but it hurts the pace of the game and the morale of the GMs as well. Having dedicated, intelligent judges willing to engage in debate and conversation is crucial to a draft game.

My Solution: Get judges in place ahead of time who know what they are getting into and show knowledge of the draft process and video games. I already have two judges in place confirmed (if you want to reveal yourself, you can), and I am working on a third (if you're interested, PM me).

    3) The Draft List.

From what I can tell, this was evolved during the drafting process this time. It was also unbalanced, offering everything from the unbeatable (Kratos, Ares) to the head scratching (Pikachu, Mother Brain) to the powder puff (Princess Peach).

My Solution: I've constructed a draft list that will be static. There will be no additions or subtractions once we start. We can discuss inclusions and ommissions now. There will also be, stolen from the Comic Book Draft, a Power List.

I will post the tentative draftable list in my next post, so as to not make this one too long.

    4) Prep Time.

This is a question we are still debating in the Comic Book Draft, but it needs to be discussed here as well. What does prep time enable someone? More spells? More items? Do they get to know a weakness?

What about unprepped characters? Do they come in with only the bare minimum necessary to "beat" a game? What weapons do they have?

My solution: During sign-ups, judges should post a paragraph stating how they will view prep/unprep differences. As prep time is subjective, it is best to leave it up to judges to determine what they believe it gives/takes away from a character. Having this information before drafting gives the GMs the knowledge they need to make informed picks.

    5) Useable material

This draft, the decision was made to use video game material only to establish power levels and experience and the such. To me, this is unacceptable, as many characters (not all) are seen in other media areas, such as novels, movies, and tv shows. It also takes away a little of the bias of game mechanics, though those will always be a bit of a problem.

My Solution: A level of canon. Video Games, naturally, are A-level canon, and should be used as the primary basis for judgments and examples. Other media, such as comic books, novels, etc, should be used as B-level canon and used to suplement and augment video game material.

And with that, I open this discussion up to the rest of you.

Is that even legal in this state?

So if we have any suggestions we just throw them down and see what everyone thinks? Like rule suggestions, character suggestons,etc...?

Also w00t for the first post after Inty's awesomeness!1!!

    1) Fine with me.

    2) Sounds good. And yes, I'll be judging in this upcoming draft, so...

    [image=http://erhune.free.fr/galerie/albums/Blog/hellsing_oav_alucard.jpg]

    Bribes encouraged.

    3) You already know what I think of the list, but more quality additions would be welcome, of course. I'm sure I didn't think of everyone that could go on there.

    4) Will do.

    5) Sounds good. No problems here.

EDIT: Yeah, once he posts the list, just go ahead and shout out some more suggestions if you got 'em. That list is already pretty damn long, but if they're draft-worthy, then bring 'em on.
