I chose Chronolgical as well. It shows how the story grows and with each passing episode.

Going with the 'watching it with my kids' thing (as I will definitely watch it I-VI now myself), I think I-VI is a more fulfilling experience. As Lucas himself said, 'No I am your father' is no longer 'oh my god he's his father!' it's 'Oh my god he's finally told him!' There is suspense until that moment created by our knowing more than Luke and that is more powerful than the shock - it's Anakin's story, not Luke's. I say this however as an embittered 19-year old who first saw the films in 1997, but already knew the father revelation because it had permeated popular culture (and my friends told me about it :( ).

Often it is said that starting with TPM is a bad idea, because it doesn't explain the Force (we don't get an explanation about it until ANH). I can only guess that the viewer starting with TPM would only come to understand the Force as something that just gives magical powers, powers that they see the Jedi and Sith using on screen. But then we come to this issue of midi-chlorians. Midi-chlorians seem to be a different way of looking at the Force. Rather than the more holistic and mystical approach it is treated more precisely. A person's ability to use the Force is proportional to the concentration of midi-chlorians in his blood. It quantifies the Force a bit. I don't know if that's a bad thing, or if that'd have any effect on someone's understanding of the films.
But midi-chlorians aside I think the view someone would get of the Force is as someone on the outside for the first three films (where the Force is really just meant to represent power, and serves as a vehicle for Anakin's corruption by that power), and then, as Luke learns the way of the Force, we come to understand it in its grander sense as having something to do with destiny.

    I-VI it is, then.

I'll watch 'em I - VI just to check it out, but I'll probably end up watching them in random order, when the urge to do so arises.

I'll watch them in production order, probably. Or I'll just pick a random trilogy or film and just watch it.

Random, and it will depend on my mood. If I want humor I'll watch TPM; for sappy romance either ESB or AotC; for darkness and special effects RotS; and if I'm just in the mood to watch a big giant ball get blown up, ANH or RotJ.

It'll actually be a full fam event from daybreak to midnite. We're waiting for christmas to get the inevitable box set of all 6. and then it's 1,2,3,4,5,6. Is there any other way??? And the quoting rule so goes into effect and it's a full out dress rehersal

Well, I will alternate between 1-6,4-6 1-3, and then 4,5,1-3,6. If I ever have kids, I will probably show them the last viewing order I put, to keep everyting a suprise.

I can't wait to watch this story at least once all the way through, including watching the Clone Wars DVDs along with the six theatrical releases. Then the story will be complete.

Chronological. Production order is weird. Do you really want to end Star Wars with the end of ROTS?
