ST VIII Foreshadowing

We saw a lot of foreshadowing/mirroring in the Force Awakens from the OT, and made many predictions about what may happen in VIII based on the plot mirroring.
For example:
EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
Vader: No. I am your father.
Luke: Nooooooo that's impossible
Vader: Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
STAR WARS VIII
Luke: No. I am your father.
Rey: Cool.
Luke: ....
And that's just one example of the mirroring we expect in VIII! Share your ideas right here.

 

Kylo and Rey having a duel.

Kylo: Luke never told about what happened to your Mother.

Rey: You monster! You killed her!

Kylo: No Rey, No. LUKE KILLED YOUR MOTHER!!!!!

 

Darth Basin I never thought about it that way!

 

Rey: No! No! That's a lie! He couldn't of!

Kylo: You know it happened. You saw it when our minds merged!

Rey: Nooooooooooooooooooo!

Join me Rey and together we will destroy our enemies!


Oh u know that's gonna be the big twist! Luke, yes goody 2 shoes Luke, had to kill Rey's mom!

 

I feel that much of it was left open for a multitude of possibilities. It's all guesswork at this point and I expect to be surprised!

FINN: I'm... a clone?

 

Or even worse
KYLO REN: I'm...a clone?

 

Call me crazy, but I'm not rating the foreshadowing until we've see the rest of the trilogy and know what was actually foreshadowed.

 

I agree with Sarge, this thread is pretty ridiculous and the poll makes absolutely no sense.

First of all, ep4 didn't foreshadow anything since ESB wasn't written yet, so saying ep4 foreshadowed anything is erroneous.

2nd, there is no foreshadowing to mirror since ep4 didn't foreshadow and neither did ep7 that we know of. Unless you have ep8's script, you'll have no idea.

I'm sorry, but this thread is like something from the old Yahoo Answers where preteens would get hyper, log in, then start nonsensical threads with titles that ramble on without any thought to em.

I think the mod should close this and wait until after ep8 so we can find out what was actually foreshadowed in TFA. Plus, you need to learn that ep4 didn't foreshadow anything. Anyone with more than a year of SW fandom will learn that ESB wasn't planned at that point.

e.g. When Obi says Darth murdered Luke's dad, he wasn't foreshadowing "a certain POV", at the time he really meant that Darth killed a different person who was Luke's father.

 

Snoke is Kylo's real dad. Feel free to quote me when VIII/IX comes out.

 

I can indeed see this happening, despite that it would be heartbreaking (probably the reason why he had to do it). Maybe Rey's mom was one of the KoR.

For clarity, as no one has explained, "foreshadowing" is done chronologically in advance of the thing it foreshadows. So we don't know how well VII foreshadows VIII

 

Lulu. I want to c that! But unlike Luke who chose death over his dad, I want Rey to join (hopefully her cousin) Kylo! I want Dark Rey!

 

I don't know about any foreshadowing, but I'm trying to stay spoiler free for Rogue One and Episode 8.

 

I predict that the last scene of TFA foreshadows a bit of dialogue involving Rey and Luke.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Rey joined the Knights of Ren while Kylo went back to being Ben?

My intention of creating this thread was to share fan theories based on the foreshadowing, since many of my friend have been noting that. It was not to "rate the foreshadowing." Although, I do admit, this thread WOULD be better off without a poll...

 

You are technically right. First of all, I should have titled the thread "VII Mirroring" and second of all, this is for fan theories.
When I said 'foreshadowing' I meant mirroring. Don't get me wrong, I often confuse the two.

kylo told rey he saw the island that she dreamed about. we see that island at the end of 7 and we will see it in 8.

 

What if the ending sequence was actually a flashforward that takes place at the end of EpVIII's first act?

 

And then they coul flashback to....wait, your theory is very confusing.
thejeditraitor YES! And that is the type of foreshadowing we're looking for. But think about this: She dreamed about an island. Was this throughh the Force or past experiences? This is why I love looking for foreshadowing. It opens up many possibilities for fan theories.
