Just a suggestion... for the next match (I don't come here much so I don't know how often these work) , could the medium be listed next to the image? It's hard to tell what's been edited and worked on with computer stuff and what's just traditional tehcniques.

 

I believe all of these here were drawn/painted.

 

Well, this was tough. But I'll go for #2 and #5.

 

Is that really relevant for these contests or indicative of how much you like it or how much work went into it? I'd hate for someone to simply come by and say "oh, this was done on the computer. It must not have taken as much time as that one that was drawn by hand."

Mine's not.

 

As far as I can tell, I think DarkGuardian's is just a collage (nothing traditional) and DarthKuk's stormtrooper completely made without digital media - his Mando woman, however, is colored via Corel Painter. The rest looks like either from Photoshop, Painter or Illustrator - save for Giolon's 3D Poser creation, of course.

 

Concerning my work (#6), it has been done completely with Illustrator, using photos for reference.

 

I'm going to agree with Giolon on this one though, I'm not sure what the medium would have to do with voting. They are all gorgeous pieces.

Er, no that's not where I was going when saying that. It's the same reason why in real life art comparisons/critiques you have to include the medium. I found looking at all the pieces that I was wondering what aspects of them were done by hand and which were done with the use of a computer. That is not to say that I was looking down on the use of a computer, I merely would be interested in knowing. It has to do with my vote because a work of art is not merely the outcome of the piece, but the entire process it takes to reach the outcome. The more I know about the process, the more accurate my vote will be.

I don't know. It's difficult with these sorts of things because artists are all very unique people and have very unique attitudes on artwork and judging. That's just my view.
