I bought a waffle maker many years ago. It is square. This seemed like a good idea at the time, but it is almost impossible to get your waffle batter to spread all the way into the corners of the square, thus wasting precious waffle iron space.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I would buy a new round waffle iron, but they are all so small and pathetic...

Greatness demands sacrifice! You need to find a big and wonderful round waffle iron. I would search one out for days for such glory.

I prefer square and have never had a problem getting it all over, perhaps you need to use a larger scoop of batter.

Trika, you mock my efforts. I have searched the land for a large round waffle iron for at least three years with nothing to show for my efforts except disappointment.

Cathy, do you think I have not tried that? That's like "waffle troubleshooting 101".

How large of a round waffle are you looking for? I am appalled at your insistence that you cannot find one.

This sucker is close to a foot in diameter.

Trickster Kenobi, 10.25 inches is not close enough. I want a 12 inch waffle.

I have a round waffle maker, but my grandparents have a cast iron square one, which I think makes the best waffles ever.

I've been using a round waffle maker, but as long as the waffles taste the same I'm not picky about their shape.

I didn't actually know you get round waffles. :p
Square waffles just seem more practical, and more....
    ....
    ....more square.

Round for me. My waffle iron is round. And teflon coated for easier cleaning. And the plates are round, too.

Really have you ever tried to fit a square waffle on a round plate? It's too much work. They're better round.
