    Which is skankier?

Dirty, nasty people, stupid staff, obnoxious children....

    Which is skankier?

The K-marts here are far grosser than the Walmarts. I absolutely refuse to enter the K-mart down the street from me. If I need cheap stuff, I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to the clean Walmart. There's a closer Walmart but it's icky.

K-Marts are cool. The closest Walmart to me is way too far away for me to compare. therefore, attention K-Mart shoppers. ;)

This is like comparing phlegm to eye crust.
Both stores are so teeming with the great unwashed, you could film a post-apocalyptic story just by walking in with a camera.

Customers make the stores how they look. They're not staffed to clean up messes every minute.

I avoid the competition-eliminating Wal-Mart all the time. Kmart all the way, even if some of the stores are still being redone.

Wal-Mart is global, not just American. They're on three continents. New W-M are usually okay for a couple months, then stay trashy. Used to work for them, and the smiley-faced, happy appearance is merely image control.

I have no idea how the K-mart in my town stays in business. It has a bad location, and everyone pretty much avoids it like the plague. Wal-Mart all the way.

My smart arse mouth and this thread have threatened my good standing at work (see my "Funny!!!!" post but I cannot refrain:

Why do some people like Wal-Mart? It takes an eternity to buy one tube of toothpaste. The noise and all those vagrant families that seem to live there. It drives me crazy.

Totally depends on where you live. The K-Mart near me is really clean but the local WalMart is a dive. Drive a couple of miles and it's just the opposite.

Of course then we could do Kathie Lee Gifford (Walmart) vs. Jaclyn Smith (K-Mart). Wouldn't ya love to see a Celebrity Death Match between those two? :D

I've worked for Wally world for almost two years now. And I know you didn't mean to be offensive, Wormie, but I am not by any means stupid. Occasionally unhelpful, if someone is particularly rude to me, but never stupid. :D (I also intend to avoid working retail, at Walmart or elsewhere, ever again if I can possibly avoid it. It goes on the list with fast food as Jobs to Be Avoided Unless Desperate.)

I must say that it depends on which W.M. you go into--the one I work in happens to be so clean, I might consider eating off the floors. The management sucks, though.

I don't shop at K-Mart because they're owned by the same corporation that owns Penthouse and a few other pornographic mags. I don't like supporting such trash in any way shape or form, so...

Wal-Mart isn't bad. And whatever you snobs may claim, just about everybody shops there. Now, I wouldn't buy a good professional wardrobe there if I can avoid it, but for casual clothes it ain't bad. Their jeans sure last longer than any designer crap I've ever bought. (I also believe that if it covers you decently and doesn't look awful, it'll pass. Especially if it doesn't cost much--but then, I'm a student, so...)

The company was much better when Sammy Walton was alive, though. *He'd* never make us work on Thanksgiving. ::shoots a resentful glance at the current CEO::

K-Mart makes Walmart look like heaven by comparision. The only thing I can think that's worse is Ames.

Ames is bottom of the barrel for department stores. Same as Bradlees before it went outta business. Another that sucks or sucked was Rich's. I like Wal-Mart and Target. I heard Kohl's(not sure if that's the name) is coming to my area. Anyone heard of this department store? If so, how is it?

The thing is, atleast Building 19 has a sense of humor about how bad it is. The others take themselves seriously.

Kohls is kind of like a cross between Wal Mart and JC Pennys.

And you're right, Frostfyre, I didn't mean that to be personally insulting. The Walmart by my house is staffed mostly with people who don't speak English much less have any idea of what customer service means.

Not that I expect any. It is a discount store, after all.

*snerk* That staff sounds like our night crew.

Never been to Kohl's. There's one next to the Sam's Club I used to work at, but I never went in.

    never heard of Ames. ::shrugs::
