I remember seeing a piece before the current civil war in the climate change scare-umentary Years of Living Dangerously that said even without warming temperatures Yemen may be the first country in the world to completely run out of water. I guess cholera got to it first.

 

So I guess we're just waiting on pestilence and then the party can start.

Death is the horseman you're looking for; pestilence is disease, which is right there in the thread title.

 

Yemen ranks only 4th on the failed state index, just ahead of Syria at number 5, scoring 111 points out of a possible 120 for failure. South Sudan is still number 1.

2nd place: Somalia
3d place: Central African Republic.

Out of fairness I should point out that it's a very close grouping for those top 5 slots.

Yemen was pretty dreadful before the Saudis attacked. Now it's one of the deepest rings of hell.
