LA, CA Warning about Gyms- be careful

This is not SW related, but wanted to share with you all this caution:

On Friday at 12:00 PM, I was working out at 24 Hour Fitness, the Super Sport Club in Glendale. (meaning the ?most exclusive? of the gyms) (I saw Karl there too) Well, I discovered Sunday that someone opened by combination lock, and stole two of my credit cards, and some cash from my locker.

After talking to a few people today, and doing some research, this is very common. People can easily learn on-line about combination locks, or can look up codes. So please be careful if you bring any valuables to the gym. People can and do get access your belongings.

I am not sure the solution, other than leave your valuables at home or lock in the trunk. Perhaps a key lock is more secure.

I think it likely was an inside job

I too do not frequent those establishments due to the fact that I may actually have to exert myself in some way, shape or form.

Sorry to hear about your predicament Bubba...hope you're able to get to the bottom of it and resolve it without having to force-choke anyone or slicing someone in 2 with your saber!!!

 

according to the police officer I just met with, it has happened 20 times at the two locations. Be careful Derik and Karl!

 

just tell yourself that you don't need to go to the Gym. Tell yourself you are in shape

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Bubba! I work out at Bally's in Pasadena, and haven't had any problems.. <<knock on wood>> I use a padlock with a key. Once some guy came in with the manager with one of those lock cutters. He said he didn't know what his lock looked like, and they were about to cut open MY lock!! Good thing I was still standing right there! Stupid s.o.b. They escorted him out of the gym..

 

Oh, Bubba, I am sorry to hear that. I hope you get your stuff back. Evil people. I run the track at school, so I keep my stuff with me...but that's good to be aware of if I ever do go to the gym.

 

WTF??? - (is that legal?) Anyways, I'm really sorry to hear that DB, hope you catch the F-ing guy...Thanks for the heads-up too...now I will leave all but salacious crumb at home...think of him as "anti-theft" device...
