Warning: server bugs may appear in the near future

These may be similar to the midnight error bugs. Or completely different. I have no idea. But this PM problem is getting ridiculous, and I?m going to try pushing the Big Red Button. Strap yourself in. This may do absolutely nothing, this may cause a bunch of strange errors, or it may cause a catastrophic loss of pressure that will send all of us tumbling towards the Pacific Ocean at a bazillion miles an hour (in round numbers).

If this doesn't work, I'll press the bigger, redder button.


The purpose of this thread is long since served.

Well, I just hit the "Rerun Daily Jobs" and the "Application Reset" switches. This will either A) have no effect, B) erase everything on the boards, C) cause a lot of small scale errors and resolve the problem, D) cause a lot of small scale errors and not resolve the problem, E) solve the problem and not cause small scale errors, F) cause large scale errors that disappear within a few hours, and solve the problem in such a way that no one notices because of all the other errors happening, G) cause the boards to enter ?Hyper Sith Mode? and spread out over the Internet, destroying all that they encounter?

 

Press the button that destroys IGN!

I was just about to say that. Things are moving pretty quick for me right now. Unfortunately, the PM's are still unreachable. I'm pretty sure that the PM's are in a completely different database than everything else, possibly on a different server entirely.

 

Then we all die. What's to worry about It's not like we did much any ways

Well, its all slow for me.

But thats because I'm at work, and despite having a great internet connection, the JC hasnt run fast for nearing a year now.

It takes me up to 2 mins to load a page (depending on how much writing and how many posts there are)

 

The boards seem a little faster as of now ... but I bet that's just wishful thinking on my part. It's still slow on a 56k modem.

Yes, they are. Resetting the boards seems to have sped things up. Go figure.

That button can do anything it wants, including starting WWIII for all I care. As long as I get my PMs back.

 

Ah, okay then. My connection speed tends to fluctuate ... sometimes it can take me 3 minutes to load the JCC, sometimes it will be half a minute. So I can't really tell. *shrug*
