Warning: server bugs may appear in the near future

If you get a technical error at the JC, it's likely that others are experiencing errors as well.

 

I got quite a few 'web site not responding' errors when trying to post around 1000 PST and again around 1200 PST. In a few cases the post went through, but the time of the most recent post was not updated on the board display. A few I lost altogether. Have gotten to the point where I am copying each post to the clipboard to avoid retyping it. (Hitting 'back' doesn't always work).

Edit: mac-nut - I see too many of those deadlock messages in my line of work (DB Administration). I work with something other than SQL though, so the message is different. It basically means you and someone else were trying to update the same area of the database and you were each waiting on a resource the other had. One of you had to go and unfortunately you were the victim.

 

okay, this one's new to me, and that means a lot:

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

no JC layout, just the text on a blank page. IE error or IGN error?

 

I can't post without getting an error right now.

 

you probably won't get this message, everything is wrong now. nothing is right. the boards are not safe, i love you all, tell my computer it wasn't her fault.

 

A tip: If, after you post, you get an error message, don't hit post again. Your message has been posted, but some problem has occured, so the number of posts that thread has received won't go up, the thread won't rise to the top, but your post will still have made it into the thread.

That would explain what would look like a "double post" (or triple)..... except when you look at the time it was posted, and it's posted at different times.

 

I'm getting some doosies today.

My messages don't post. That is they don't appear even after I refreshed the pages. So I post it again and I now have two posts. Then I check my post after replying and I have the first post from the first page ontop of the 3rd page.

Then I'm reading a thread in the CT and about 7 posts didn't appear when I read it the first time. It looked to me as I was the 5th post, but I was down the list.

 

I just got a whole bunch of "cannot find server" errors.

 

I'm pretty sure everyone did.

I think I discovered a new one! This happened about 40 minutes ago, and it's happened to a few people since. So i'll go to a thread and suddenly everything will be completely text, black on white, blue links, the whole bit. The page only displays from the
Jedi Council Forums>Administration (or whatever, category thing) etc. at the top to the one at the bottom and the only images that show are user icons.

That's happened to me at random times in the past too, usually in the JCC.

It usually goes back to normal when the page is refreshed.

gosh, what happened to the board just now? it was down for about an hour, at least.

 

The search feature doesn't appear to be working. I keep getting no matches found no matter what I type in.

 

The search feature rarely seems to work. It usually either doesn't work at all, or doesn't find results from the past couple weeks.

 

Could someone please use the search feature to find us some help?

 

Hey guys, this is just a suggestion, but maybe someone could spice up the error messages a bit? I find them dull and bland. If they were more like the whammies from the old "Press Your Luck" gameshow, people would love seeing the errors. They could dance or scream across your screen and tell you that they have all your money, except they're not taking money, only time, resources and a little bit of one's soul.
