FF:SA WAS ANAKIN CONCEIVED BY THE DARK SIDE??

in ep3 sidious explains that darth plaguess the wise could influence the midi chloriens to create life!!
and shmi said there was no father....
so,..... was anakin conceived by the dark side of the force??

Ah huh. I knew this would turn up sooner or later. Palpatine did mention in RotS that his master knew how to create life, and it seems a distinct possibility that Anakin was concived by the dark side. And we do not know the orgins of Shmi Skywalker before she turns up in TPM, she could have been associated with Palpatine's master and not known what he was.

There is also a distinct possiblilty Qui-Gon could not sense this since the dark-side does cloud the good-side forsight.

However, one could pose the argument that is brought up throughout the saga and is evident in RotJ, Anakin might have been concived by the dark-side but he was his own person with his own mind and made his own decisions. Seeing his son in pain revealed that no matter his orgins, he overcame them to save Luke through love.

It's an important element in the SW Saga, love overcomes all odds, love for Anakin lead Luke to tempt fate and ignore what others said about his father, love in turn Anakin had for his son (and some might argue for his newly acknowledged daughter,) and for the memory of Padme, brought him back to the good side.

One also brings up the point that Padme is most instrumental in teaching Anakin about love, Shmi loved her son also, but Padme, raised in a less harsh environment, stood by him and bore him children out of love.

It was only through having learned about love like this, that reguardless of Anakin's origins, he took his destiny into his own hands.

So, I don't believe the vital question in Anakin's life should be, was he concived by the dark-side, rather: how did he over-come the dark-side to become good?

Answer: love for his family.
