was greedo in episode 1

No, sorry, but that's not Greedo. That's another one of the many Rodians roaming around Tatooine. I can't remember his name though. It might be Beedo, or something like that.

Couldn't they just come up with some kind of explanation to fix the contradiction like they did for the other EU contradictions?

 

That deleted scene shows that Greedo was always a trouble maker. But apparently George thought that the movie didn't need it.

 

I thought it was a good scene. Showed Anakin had a temper on him at a early age. Plus showed Greedo always pickin a fight with the wrong guy would eventually get him killed one day

 

I'm sure I saw him dressed up as a tree during one of the scenes.

I think in a later battle scene he's dressed as a gun.

I think the Greedo deleted scene was a cute way to introduce Greedo (imagine if he lived to know that the boy who he called out grew up to be Darth Vader?) but between the EU backstory and how it didn't add anything to the TPM story...it needed to be cut.

 

I have been told it was Greedo, in fact on TPM DVD I think it was Rick McCallum who said it was Greedo but still I don't think it is since Greedo is a teenager by the time of ANH.

 

The fact that Wald calls him by name didn't convince you then?

The fact that the Databank on the Official Site doesn't list Greedo as being in TPm is because it was a deleted scene. This means it may or may not have happened within the context of the story.

The movies do not contradict the EU. If the EU has a backstory about a character and then the movies come along and show something completely different, the EU backstory no longer counts. Remember movies are number 1 canon.
