Shhhhhhh. Don't give away the real joke, please. If everyone's in on it, then people might not be as inclined to carry on about it three days later.

And then where would the entertainment be? Census suggestions and new board notices? There's no fun in that.

 

While I do think that something needs to happen with the mods that broke the rules (per DLM's HIGHER STANDARD truth, which I think really needs to be dealt with - harsher punishments for the same rule-breaking because of this higher standard), I'd like to remind people that the same way that information on punishments for regular users doesn't get discussed, punishments for mods don't get discussed either. So just because we're not seeing anything doesn't mean nothing's happening.

And you know this how? Because the mods are still doing their jobs? Well, that doesn't mean they haven't been warned, which is all I, personally, would expect. Yes, they should be held to a higher standard. But also, this WAS all a joke, them trying to act in character.

I was one of the ones most ticked off about it, and even I'M over it. I'm still mad that they violated TOS to do it, but what's done is done. Mods have been warned, I have no doubt. It's seriously time to move on. Carmenite is right.

Besides, with troll problems as they are in places even outside RotS, do you SERIOUSLY want mods banned for something THIS minor? I think it's been made abundantly clear that the behavior wasn't acceptable, and the mods are seriously paying their penance by seeing so many users complain about it.

 

Damn, I missed the joke. Oh well.

An update: The event was five days ago. Mods have apologized. The administration has taken action. Nothing's being swept under the rug.
