Was Luke really a general?

So I was at Borders and I was flipping through the Essential Chronology debating over whether or not to buy it and I run into this little section about "General Skywalker" and Luke being promoted to General. What random comic or whatever is this in, because I've never seen it. Does this cause continuity issues?

I'm waiting for Genghis and all those experts to come help me out.

 

Luke was a general of the rebellion, After ToB (where he was a commander), and before TTT. (where he speaks of how he resigned his commission along with Han and Lando.)

I may be wrong on some of those small time facts, its far too late.

 

It seems that during the height of the rebellion, people were promoted pretty quickly.

 

According to the Essential Chronology Luke was a General up to a battle pre-"Solo Command" (maybe a little sooner). He resigned the commision around that time.

Im pretty sure his being a general is referred to briefly in the BFC trilogy, although Im not sure which books it is mentioned in...

I don't think it was in any books, other than being mentioned.

As for the comment on rapid promotions, war always leeds to promotions for those best equipped to lead.

 

Its definetly in there, Simone, its just a matter of finding it. Since it is such a vague reference it may be difficult, but it is in there. Perhaps in the third book in the series ?

 

I thought he was just a commander.
