JCC Washington Navy Yard shooting

10 injured in shooting inside the Navy Yard in Washington, a police official says; U.S. Navy says reports of fatalities.

Some reports are mentioning up to three shooters, with one already down, one they believe they have pinned down, and one still at large.

 

There are more cops - and different kinds of cops - than you can shake a stick at around here. And they're all involved. Our local news affiliates are reporting 2 suspects down now, no report on their conditions - and the search continues for more.

I was just coming in to post this thread. I was busy getting word from my buddies that they're all ok. I have several friends who work in the building. I probably won't hear from everyone until late tonight.

Glad to hear you're safe, Brian. I knew you didn't work there but I also knew it wasn't outside the realm of possibility that you could be there. I hope your buddies are ok!

I've been watching Fox and CNN for about an hour now. The evidence they have for more than 1 shooter are the bullets taken out of the victims (apparently there are two types). All the eye witness reports given describe the same guy though at this time.

 

NBC is reporting a possible second shooting location - a second and separate building.

 

Really hoping "fatalities" means no more than two.

 

Unfortunately, DC local news reporting 4 dead.

 

Yeah, I'm hearing four dead and eight injured, though the exact numbers vary between sources.

 

They are reporting one shooter confirmed dead.

 

Two shooters down, now.

 

DC MPD Chief Cathy Lanier saying in a press conference right now that they are looking for two potential other shooters still at large.

 

I can't believe we're still talking about multiple gunmen potentially being out there.

 

So any idea what this is? Just random work place violence? Crazy guys with guns? Some minor terrorist attack? Domestic terror attack?

 

Implications at the moment do seem to be that they were employed there in some form. Beyond that, we don't have much to go on.

 

I'm guessing there's some terrorist angle here. 1 guy shooting up his place of employment happens, but 3?

Although it does seem likely at least one of them worked there because it seems like they got inside without a fight.

 

God damn this sucks.

 

This is horrible. My prayers go out to the people affected by this tragedy.

I will be in DC next Monday as a chaperone for my son's school trip. I can't imagine what security will be like. I lived in the DC area during 9-11, the Anthrax attacks and the Beltway shooter...security was intense after these events. I hope they find the shooters.
