I did understand the film perfectly. The story (what there is of it) was too basic to get wrong. If you dislike my opinions and think I'm trolling by all means report my activity. I'm saying nothing wrong, rude or inflammatory.

No, if nobody else thinks it's a sequel hook, then everybody else thinks I'm off-topic so I'll drop it. I can start a separate thread for the lightspeed tracking plot.

I think the hooks that @Random Ax of Kindness brought up are 2 of the most important in TLJ. The second one in particular is present throughout the movie "We are the spark that will light the fire. .." etc.

So, by the end of TLJ, the spark is very nearly extinguished but not quite. So, what will the fire be? I think the best clue is Broom Boy, but it's not clear yet exactly what the significance of that scene will be. I'm guessing that a horde of new force users will take down the first order.

I will never post on these forums again. I am completely ashamed that I have moderated these forums, seeing what they have become. You folks are ridiculous with your overtly PC views of allowable speech. I am more happy to be done with you all than you are to be done with me.

*EDIT*: I do take issue with your above statement in that it is not defined in the TOS, Rules of Posting, nor the Banned words list. I suggest you clarify that. And also make a note in there that this forum is extraordinarily liberal and will not tolerate any views other than those that support liberal and socialist thinking.

Good day. This will be deleted by the mods. I know why, but still needed to be publicly said.

Also since when was moderating made public such as this? You moderate, then PM the person the for the reason of the moderation. This was not allowed when I was a manager. The moderators opinion should never be spoken in moderation. You fail, Artoo-Dion, as a moderator.

In my day, people got cranky about off-topic chatter. So, sequel hooks

1.) The broken lightsaber: will it be repaired?
2.) The sacred Jedi texts: will they be read?
3.) Rose Tico: will she recover?
    4.) D'Acy's contact: will he/she/they help?
5.) Will the First Order find the Falcon when it comes out of light speed?

Rather than repair the saber back to it's original form, It might be more thematically fitting if Rey took the crystal within it and forged a new saber with it. I could see this happening.

The Falcon would have had to be on the FO tracking systems' scanners before it jumped to light speed.

The FO didn't see the Falcon even leave Crait. So they're safe.

Based on what information? Wookieepedia says the hyperspace tracker is "a technology with the ability to detect starships travelling through hyperspace." If Wookieepedia is correct, couldn't the Falcon have been detected when it travelled through hyperspace?

I think it’s probably the case that “hyperspace tracking” was a driving force of one film, but highly unlikely to be a significant plot point going forward (aside from perhaps in acknowledging a workaround)

    Yep.

Connix (in episode IX): We’ve finished installing the hyperspace tracking scramblers in all of our ships, sir.

    Done.

They really need to do something to make the FO an actual threat again. Hux has no authority by the end of the film (he's openly abused and mocked by the Supreme Leader) - Kylo killing him would've at least shown some development and salvaged Hux to some extent, by ending his misery in the story.

    Ways it builds interest:
    1) Force ghost Luke
    2) Kylo’s fate – personally I’m far less interested in this character now, but I think it’s still a popular topic and he is also the only character whose fate seems to be unpredictable
    3) Maybe the rebuild of the new Jedi order or Republic but I’m not sure if they’re going to show that

    Ways it fails:
    1) Weak villains
    2) No fun speculating now
    3) OP, boring main character with unrelatable motivations
    4) Uninteresting rehash of the state of the galaxy and boring world building

Weak villains? For me, Kylo Ren and his development is the thing I’m most excited to see

There's plenty to anticipate, but primarily what Kylo Ren's destiny is going to be

    - Luke the redeemer could not see him turning but denied Ben from having his death on his hands.
    - All the father figures are dead
    - He's not Rey's father
    - He has no master (except perhaps Ghost Luke, potentially)
    - And he needs no apprentice

"Anticipation" in Star Wars terms seems to mean knowing what's coming next because it has connections with what's happened in the past. (something that the ST has received criticism for at the same time - [face_thinking])

    EDIT: nevermind.
But is he really a villain or a tragic hero awaiting redemption?

He really demonstrated nothing on par with his opening scenes in TFA as far as villainy goes imho. He is a bit interesting (though Carrie and presumably Leia's demise has detracted from what may have been a very interesting confrontation/dynamic) but the villain? Supreme Leader Ren in name only by the end of the film. I just hope that a time gap will give him and all of the characters, some time to develop ...

Yes, I think the villains are weak. Interesting character =/= good villain. I don’t think Kylo Ren is a threat to Rey, despite having an interesting arc on his own. They also don’t have (currently) anyone else that I can see as a credible threat to the heroes.

    Therefore, weak villains.
