Mary We Have a MOD in our Midst

Congrats to DarthSapient!! JC's newest MOD!! And one of our own I might add.

 

Thank you DRK_HLMT. This was a shock. I was actually in one of those rare instances where I was working while at work for an hour. I logged on and everything was strange. My name was red. I seriously thought I was banned.

 

How did you become a mod? And do you moderate any particular forums?

 

What's a mod?

I apologize for sounding like a 9-year-old Anakin...

 

It's short for Moderator. And I think it's pretty cool to have a mod in our group. Congratulations!

 

MOD(erators) have nifty message board powers. They can lock threads, make their name look all purty, and best of all... BAN PEOPLE!

I think they can also make polls in boards that usually don't have them.

 

A communications disruption exists. I know nothing about moderators....

Thanks everyone. I had no clue. I was very nervous when I logged on. For as confident as I am in navigating the boards themselves, I have no clue where to even begin in here. Seriously, it's like learning it all over again.

 

The first thing you do, as any truly great mod does, is get a list of the members of your FF and make them all VIP's

 

Geeze Sapient, I don't know whether to say congratulations or duck and cover. I second Luke's plan however.

Um Mutt, it seems like if we ever run into someone who is rude and unopen to correction on threads, we can complain about him to Sapient. You wouldn't know anyone like that would you?

I tell you what, it's a scary thing being a mod. It changes your perception of everything. Close a thread, get threatened in a PM. Ban someone and they come back at you with a new name and with a vengeance. I like it, don't get me wrong. It's a little rough over in the PSA. Sometimes I feel I've gotten a little paranoid.

Some EU'er can scare the pants off of you and the movie purists really hate us, nope it is not an easy job, so I bow in your direction, Sapient, that first slot they gave you is gonna be tough, but you'll get the hang of it. I can't understand why anyone would want to be a mod. I am paranoid enough as it is. If you have a bad day, DS, just come back here and we'll make you feel, worse, I mean better.... Remember you always have a home here, even if you are a mod.

 

Hehe Sapient. Just goes with the territory. I'm sure the next couple of months are going to be interesting to say the least.

 

At some point, I'm sure that I'll be banned, just because I'm inherently unlikeable.

 

I don't know Derth, all you have to do is show up at Sapient's place in whipped cream and he will probably let you back on, no sweat.

But just make sure his wife is out.

 

Congrats DarthSapient on becoming a mod. I wouldn't know where to start when it comes to AotC spoilers when there's so much EU around.

By the way, is there any age requirement to become a mod?

 

There's no age requirement to be a moderator. I definitely would like to be at the next FF meeting. I hope that we can arrange to get together as a group to see the film. That would be fun.
