I know what I said earlier about the MCC, but damn those Blur cutscenes look spectacular.

As I have mentioned in various games threads, I am very familiar with all of the Halo games, with the only one I haven't played being Halo 2 (excluding Spartan Assault), but I only have Evolutions and Forward Unto Dawn for the EU.

 

I have arrived.

So no one cares about Nightfall or Broken Circle...

 

Can they hurry up and make a novelization of all Halo 2 onwards? At this point I think I love the universe more than the games themselves!

 

I don't know much about the Halo universe, other than my wife used to be a high-level multiplayer player and played through 1, 2, 3, Reach, OSDT and what else. And she thinks 4 is **** and some kind of betrayal to the philosophy Bungie applied to the original games. Or something.

But yeah, Halo 4 turned out to be pretty meh.

 

The orbital drop shock troopers were awesome in Halo Wars.

 

Yeah, they were. If you could manage to assemble a swarm of those ******* you could win any engagement without so much as a single vehicle unit.

 

Yeah, but it turned out all you really needed to do to win matches on Live was pick the Arbiter and a Prophet and simply stroll on over to the enemy base and wreak havoc while they scrambled to assemble defenses.

Still, great game. I have fond memories of unleashing swarms of aircraft and Scarabs at opponents. It's too bad that the game was kind of an unsung hero--it demonstrated that the RTS genre could indeed be effectively brought over to console. At no point did I ever find myself longing for a mouse and keyboard.

 

I did. Halo Wars on the PC would've been sweet, if not too simplistic.

But still, great game. A shame it seems it didn't do well enough for MS to pull a sequel even if developed under another studio.

It's too bad about some of the mocap choices they made. The woman they picked for Miranda just looks a bit too old and Johnson far too young! And they should've tried making Miranda and Cortana as similar as possible, considering.

 

Wow, there is so much upcoming Halo stuff.

Halo 5: Guardians - We all know what this is and what it's going to be.

Halo Online - New multiplayer only Halo which as of now is only being release in Russia. It may or may not have to do with the Anvil Project (as mentioned in Canon Fodder on Waypoint awhile back) due to it taking place on a space station named Anvil Station. Here is some footage:



BTW, the game is running off the Halo 3 engine.

Halo: Hunters in the Dark - Spartans and elites teaming up and going back to the ark. They already sold me on this idea.

Halo: Saint's Testimony - A story told from a smart A.I.'s perspective.

Halo: Last Light and Shadow of Intent - Two more new novels to be release later this year; and possibly to the fear of Halo/Star Wars fans Troy Dening is authoring the first of them.

Overall, the Halo universe is definitely become a lot deeper and more interesting. I wonder where 343/Mircosoft's thirty year plan will take us.

 

Halo: Online looks amazing. Too bad it is exclusive to Russia as far as we know. I loved Halo 4 and I am looking forward to Halo 5: Guardians, but I wasn't very of either of games' matchmaking. I'm mostly into Halo for it's lore, story, and characters so I can't wait to play Halo 5: Guardians campaign and read all the new books coming out this year.

 

Anyone else following the HUNT the TRUTH audio series? Just started it but it's already got me pumped for Guardians.
