The DCEU to scale back the interconnexion between movies in favour of more characterful "stand-alones", which will still be sharing the same universe (i.e. no continuity errors):

So, less akin to Marvel, and more like SW Anthology, with perhaps more integration. I don't mind, so long as we're getting good, complex movies.

Yeah, quality movies would be in the best interest of everyone.
Aside from the Snyder films, I didn't think Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman were really that connected to make a common narrative/thread or building to an event like the MCU's showdown with Thanos. So this news is not much of a surprise when earlier this year Matt Reeves "Batman" movie had questions about being connected to the rest of the DC cinematic universe. And of course, the speculation about the Martin Scorsese produced Joker film.

I guess everyone could go back and refer to the DC movies as the DC cinematic universe or even the DC film universe. Not that I really care as a rose by any other name...


On another note, I'm glad to hear that Danny Elfman is going to twist John Williams' Superman theme and add it to the Justice League film score, even though only some of the audience may recognize it. It's a step in the right direction to fully bring back Williams' score.

Reverse engineered X-Files anyone? Father and daughter with skeptic and believer roles flipped. Added bonus, she's magical. Just lose that 13 on your head in live action please. Not sure why they didn't just retweak Constantine (or is the animated series a test to see if people want more of that character?)

As far as the movies, I hope they find a balance and can make the films work.

 

The Constantine animated series has to do with setting up his role on "Legends Of Tomorrow" this season. But it will probably allow him to guest star if "Project 13" makes it to air and is part of the Arrowverse.

 

A Deathstoke solo film is going to be made! Holy ****. He's my favourite DC character.

 

I don't blame DC for putting more villain and female films in development. Might as well play to your strengths.

I think they will. The new Titans series is multiracial.

And I think the CW is trying to expand their racial demographics. Just look at Black Lightning.

I guess doing it through superhero shows could be the way to go.



In movie news, it looks like we will get 4 DC movies in 2019:

Shazam, Suicide Squad 2, Wonder Woman 2 and one other.

DC's 'Shazam!' to Star Zachary Levi (Hollywood Reporter Exclusive)

I don’t believe Zachary Levi was on anyone list of potential actors that could play Shazam and so it was a shock to everyone when this news broke. It’s inspired casting. As the news spread across social media, most of the reactions have been positive as Levi certainly can bring that child element into the character Shazam, much like Tom Hanks did in Big.

I do like this casting.

 

I thought it was an odd choice, but definitely not a bad one. I think he'll do a great job.

He was tired of being Thor's sidekick, so he's become the DC equivalent of him.

And apparently Mark Strong will be playing Dr. Sivana, who will be the main villain. What happened to Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam? Are they seriously saving him for a solo film? Because that's just stupid.

 

Yes, they're saving him for a solo film. Black Adam's backstory is such that setting him up as a darker version of Captain Marvel first, and then turning him full on against Billy and the Wizard gives both characters a chance to shine on their own and then become natural enemies to each other.

 

Well, there's an article that reports that ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXX’ (already announced DC film) may Introduce Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.

I would be kind of surprised if this report was true considering the DCEU already went this route and it didn't go well. But, with a new writer, director and Dwayne Johnson it most likely going to be better.

 

I still think Jason Momoa should play Lobo.
