Hey everyone. I don't know if all of you are aware of the problems in the Johnson family. Albin Johnson was the founder of the 501st back in 1998. He now has a 6 year old daughter that has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and cancer.

Kisses For Katie funds have been started by heartofanempire.com to help collect donations to help them out.

I think he would do something to try to raise money for Katie.

    What do you all think?

Yea I know the 501st tries to raise money and they do a lot, but they haven't really made a whole lot. They needed 20,000 for medical bills and they didn't make it, they only got like 17,000, which is nothing to look over, but it still puts them behind on money just for medical bills.

But yea, we could also do things for people around here.

I think it's an absolute shame about how some hospitals treat families with ill children. $20k on hospital bills is ludicrous for a family having to deal with a child with cancer.

Having a child of my own, this just makes me sick. [face_sick]

I can personally add that for the most part health care costs in this country are hideous, I just had some home health people leave here (wonder what they charge for after hours??)...and some medical rental people just charged me 300 dollars for an iv pole and pump and thats not counting the medicine that is in it...It's insane. It's like I hear cash registers chinging while I am sitting in the doctor's office...And it's worse when it's your kids. With my Noah's heart surgery when he was born, the insurance only paid a limited amount 25,000 and after that it was ours to deal with...So, if we can help out this 501st family, I say lets help out...

Hey guys. I know that this is a Star Wars family from out of our state, but I really think we should do something. Even if it is nothing but sending our thoughts and prayers and support their way. For anyone who has never been in this situation, watching your child struggle and fade in front of you, thank God every day that you have been spared. I have buried a child, she did not pass from cancer and we only had her a few months, but every card and hey, we're thinking of you mattered. So, lets get someting sent these folks way even if it's just our wishes. From the looks of things, they don't have long left with their daughter. What do you think, fellow renegades? I think we should do something.
