Can they do that? And if they can; do we see Mighella as powerful/skilled/knowledgeable enough to pull it of?

Common enough to be a standard-issue handwave for every melee weapon in KOTOR, and pretty much every non-Sith enemy will have a cortosis-lined sword at least as a backup weapon. So, in Old Republic days, pretty damn common.

In movie-era SW and later, though...still not rare enough to keep any random someone from using it if they really want to. So I guess the final verdict is Not Rare Enough.

Where did the Morgukai Clone Army get their Cortosis?

If they have the same source for their exotic Cortosis Droids - Jabba sold it to them. Which makes about as much sense as anything else, because why would the Hutts not have stockpiles of it. [IMG]

The Hutts possessing stockpiles of Cortosis would explain a lot. For the Republic, Cortosis would be regarded as rare.
And nobody did know what was exactly going on on planets like Varl.

There is also always the Bootana Hutta were they have apparently stockpiled exotic treasure and technology collected over the last 25000 years, plus it has been mentioned that the Hutts also have commercial interests in the Unknown Regions and Wild Space were the stuff could have come from.

Gamiel: Maybe you have another weapon question for us to discuss?

I'd like to know if lightsabers are plasma weapons or laser weapons or, somehow, both.

Novels, like RoTS, refer to them as "plasma" on occasion.

Complete Vehicles ( which has a lot of reprinted content from Incredible Cross Sections) refers to a lightsaber blade (p119) as a "massless standing wave of energy".

Most specifically, a "bar of plasma extending from his hand."

In that case we can be sure, that Endor's planet was destroyed in a long ago cataclysm, - no matter what lower material claims - since the source to tell us is G Canon. ;)

And Owen is Ben's brother. ;) Though the gas giant thing at least got explained.

Wasn't it the two Ewok Adventures movie- set only about 3 years before RoTJ- that showed us a gas giant over Endor?

True- but most of those other places are "not written by Lucas" (which IMO isn't that much of a reason to dismiss them).

The Ewok Adventures movies I think had more of his involvement.

Result- the "long ago cataclysm" ends up being less than 3 years ago, which is problematic at best. Simplest just to (as the EU did) treat that line from the novel as retconnable, and retcon it.

Or it is just an IU hoax, you know along with the Endor Holocaust and the Executor class. [face_whistling]

That's the EU retcon I was mentioning, yes.

What were the TCW retcons in The Essential Atlas?

From memory an explanation for the different TCW Ryloth and of course the Mando stuff.

The Mando stuff was more "making TCW info exist alongside previous stuff".

More like, let us try to make sense of all 7 or so versions of Mandos we have gotten to see.

To return to the Mighella's sword question. I have just got my hands on SW: the Ultimate Visual Guide and in there it is written :-B "[...][Mighella] is skilled in the dark side of the Force. Mighella attempted to use an energized sword to stop Darth Maul, then surprises him with a burst of Force lightning."*. So now we know from an official source that her sword was energized but sadly it is still just as possible to interpret it as energized by technology as by the Force.

Have we seen any power weapons in Star Wars, outside of possibly Alexi Garyn and Mighella?

Did I understand the 'pedia article right that it is what the staff is made of that makes it possible to parry lightsabers, not the energy "auras"?

Certain Vibrosweapons have a similar effect going. Like the ones seen in TOR and some of the Comics.

Yep made out of Phrik, a rare material that is heavily resistant to lightsabers.
