I'm thinking we should be more diverse. I was debating typing Talz instead of human yesterday. Should I change my species? Any opinions? I guess my biggest deterrent was that I really wasn't sure if a Talz were considered intelligent enough to be pilots.
Intelligent enough, yes! Suitable for combat missions, definitely no! Forgotten if it was with the Rogues or the Wraiths, but Wedge put one into a simulated combat - and the Talz's stress readings went off the chart - returned to piloting cargo ships IIRC! Talz are too gentle. P.S. Perhaps we should get used to using our Squadron Numbers! Wraiths seem do use them quite a lot - more than other units. Five, out!
Good point, Tim! I'm not quite sure how RP-ish we'll be getting - but Talz and Camaasi are probably not the best species for combat pilots (appearance in TOR notwithstanding). Of course, there are the Talz from Iron Fist, who were genetically modified to be assassins (like Piggy and Kolot), so you could possibly argue that, if you are so inclined! I personally love the Togruta, so if I change species, it'll probably be to that!
Yeah, Sey and I are totally wingmates! I'll have that profile filed out... soon ... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
All good, Numbers, just making sure. ... oh right, profile! Name: Xani Species: Human Gender: Female Strengths: Tech! Xani is not called Techgirl for nothing. She can slice locks, reprogram droids, build an ionizing radiation kit out of spare parts ... Weaknesses: Candy. And chocolate. Any desserts, really. Favorite Wraith: Face Loran
So, with the news of a Han Solo book for the Rebels series, who thinks that Wedge should be the fourth or fifth (if they give Chewie one) one in the series? Any ideas of who might write a great Wedge Rebels novel, and what it might cover (I, for one, would ADORE a "Wedge joins the Rebellion" novel)? (Also, since the Rebels series seems to be admirable in reaching out to new authors, I'm thinking of new, non-SW authors for it - since my ideal would probably be Allston )
Be good if it covered that as well, so we can see the younger Wedge interacting with Booster and Mirax.
Well, since the Rebels series is about between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, maybe covering all those in flashback?
No problem with flashback! Could be as part of his decision making process - go 'fringe' with Booster/Mirax (and Booster has taught him some basic con-artist techniques) or go 'legit' as a Rebel!
Exactly why I asked, because a part of me would love to see this written up in detail. However, Wedge would make a great story even if you just started after he pulls out of the first death star run. You know that was an emotional day for him as well.
Indeed! That moment has been touched on in Battleground: Tatooine and other places, but to see the direct emotional fallout would be brilliant. However, I would really, really like it if they did their best to minimize Mala and/or relegate her to the dustbin of retcons...
Mala weirded me out. I always thought that half the point of Wedge's backstory was that he didn't join the Rebels because of the Empire hurting him personally; he did it because it was the right thing to do. That's one of the many things that makes Wedge as awesome as he is.
It's just a lazy, lazy story that doesn't fit with almost anything we know about Wedge. Plus, it ignores Starfighters of Adumar. Which is pretty unforgiveable in my book (see also: Battle of Orinda).
Ok Wraiths, I think we need to start planning a prank. The EUC has gotten complacent and now is our time to strike! Who is with me?
