Secret Identity: Benjamin Folds

Occupation: None currently. Has engineering degree.

Origin/Backstory:
Ben grew up in an orphanage in a small town in Indiana called Ladleton. The headmaster of the orphanage didn't care too much what happened to the kids who were in his care, he just skimmed off his extra share off the city funds that were to pay for the children's welfare.
He bought the groceries for the kids from whomever was the lowest bidder.
He didn't question where the meat came from.

He never wondered why the gelatin that came from an unnamed factory in New Jersey had a strange green glow.

Desert was Ben's favorite part of the meal. The rest of the food was bland and unappetizing. At least desert had some flavor. Not ever knowing a real family, he didn't know that gelatin wasn't supposed to look that way.

By his 10th birthday, things began to happen.
His skin began to take on a sickly green hue. The local orphanage nurse never found anything wrong with him that could explain the arboreal tinge.

The children of course teased him.
The headmaster did nothing to stop the teasing, in fact, he seemed to encourage it.
He was cruel to anyone who seemed weak to him.

As puberty set in, Ben's hair grew long and also came out dark green. He became stronger. Strong enough to pulverize the boys that teased him.

Strong enough to run away.

Being homeless wasn't that much different than living in the orphanage. He had to scrape for clothes and food, and find just a little bit of space to stay out of everyone's way.
At night he would fold newspapers into a tiny shelter to keep the rain off and the cold out.
It was suprisingly strong and weatherproof.

He didn't stay in one spot for very long though.
During the day, he would hang out near the schoolyards and fold little paper animals for the children out of old newspapers. They would pay him their milk money for one of his amazing creations.
The children liked to claim that his animals came alive for them.

Yes his animals were very lifelike. He spent an incredible amount of time making sure all the details were there. When he made the animals, the children were happy.
He loved making children happy since having such a miserable childhood himself.

One day the librarian noticed one of the children playing with a tiny owl that would fly back and forth from one hand to the other. She inquired about it and found out that Ben was the creator.
Tracking Ben down, she told him what she had seen.
He didn't believe it. He created another owl right before her and nothing happened. A few minutes went by and suddenly the owl began to stir. Then it began to fly.
Ben had special powers!

The librarian was a widower and invited Ben to stay with her, and he helped her do odd jobs around the house.
His power grew and grew until his animals came to life the moment he created them.
He found he could also create inanimate objects like boxes and shoes that became as good as the real thing once he had finished them.

He went to college to learn engineering. If he could learn about how people made things with regular materials, he could learn how to make his paper creations that much better.

He realized that he could finally do something about the headmaster back at the orphanage.
But he can't let them know who he is. He creates a costume out of paper which becomes invincible the moment it is done.
As he sets out on his journey to find the headmaster, he runs into a band of superheros who ask for him to join them...

Real Name: Archangel Michael

Alias: White Lightning


Origin/Backstory: Commander of the Loyalist Angels in The 1st War of Heaven, Michael the Archangel led the Loyalists to victory against Lucifer and his army of Rebel Angels.

When Lucifer issued a declaration of war stating that he would ascend to Heaven; raise his throne above the stars of God; sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain, and would ascend above the tops of the clouds, making himself like Most High, it was Michael who gathered the loyalist army of some 266,613,336 angels (his name was said to have been the war-cry of the angels in battle), to rally against the might of 'the dragon', and lead them to a crushing victory which resulted in the fall of Lucifer.

Also formerly described as the Prince of Light, Michael led the forces of good against the darkness of evil, commanded by Belial, in The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness.

He was also once described as the "viceroy of heaven" by God, a title that is said to have formerly belonged to Satan.

However, with glory bestowed upon him by the heavenly father, Michael could not understand his having not been given a place at either side of the throne of God...

Religious legend has it that The Christ and the Archangel Michael are the same being. The Bible refers to Michael as "the Archangel," a term meaning "chief angel." This combined with the term of Archangel never being referred to as plural in the bible suggests that there is only one Archangel, and Jesus is linked with the Archangel in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 which states: "The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel's voice..."

In actuality, they are two separate heavenly beings, and when The Christ took his seat at the right hand of God's throne, with Gabriel, God's chief messenger, at his left - a seed of resentment was sown in the Archangel Michael, a seed which grew over time into a boiling hatred for The Christ and His Father....

Gathering those that were loyal to him, Michael fought The 2nd War of Heaven against Jesus and God's army of angels. He was beaten by The Christ, and in the resultant aftermath, God's retribution was another casting out of Heaven for those that would betray his love. However, realising the error of his ways, he pleaded for a chance of redemption and The Christ offered him a way back....

Cast down to Earth, as opposed to Hell, Archangel Michael's mission from the Son of God is to fight evil with compassion, attempting to redeem those who would murder, maim and bring misery to the world. His weapon, The Lightning of Love, brings those evil infested people that are struck with it to their knees, temporarily robbing them of their evil thoughts, it makes those that are struck look inwards to their very soul.

Having once been known as the Prince of Light, Michael has taken the alter ego of White Lightning, whilst attempting to compete his mission on Earth.

Citizenship None. He tirelessly traverses the globe with his power of flight, looking for those that may be redeemed.

Cool! I shall call him "Bearded Ninja Turtle Guy with Sticks." The fact that he's actually a tortoise notwithstanding.

Superpowers include crazy kung fu skills, ability to grow facial hair unbelievably fast, and the ability to communicate with slow-moving reptiles.

After his parents were taken from the Galapagos Islands by the evil Charles Darwin, Turtle Guy (as he was known then) swore revenge and pledged to ensure that something similar would not happen to him. He traveled abroad to the distant land of Southern California and climbed the ominous Beverly Hills to train with the master Steven Seagal. His training was strenuous, but he persevered and became the Ninja Turtle Guy. However, with the knowledge the Seagal would accept any movie contract, assassins were sent to sign him on to the worse production the world had ever seen and torpedo his career. After realizing what he'd done, the doomed master presented his protege with the ultimate weapons: he called them "sticks." And so, when Steven Seagal became a faceless nobody with whom no one would want to be seen in public, Ninja Turtle Guy with Sticks traveled back to his home in the Galapagos, fighting crime wherever it may be... but mostly in the Galapagos. A hundred years have passed, so he has a beard to make him look older. He is still searching for his parents, and so far he has concluded they are not in the Galapagos.
