Well, in a shameless display of nerdiness, I was lucky enough to be a part of the Weird Al concert in Knoxville, TN on July 19, 2008. For the song "The Saga Begins", Weird Al sometimes has members of the 501st Legion on stage as his backup (and do a routine). Here's our group shot with him after the show.

Here's a pic of me with Weird Al after the show:

And here's the video of it! Dancing Stormtroopers

We had a great time as we had our own dressing room, was given access badges, and allowed to hit the catering room. Weird Al is a vegan, so no meat dishes (think tofu enchiladas), but they did have some pasta, salad, rolls, and loads of drinks (no... no alcohol). When showtime hit, we were escorted out onto a VERY dark stage, but when the lights came on and the song started playing, the time flew by. The crowd was really into it, and we had a blast doing our freestyle dance moves. After our 6 minutes of fame on stage, we hung out until after the show and our "meet & greet" with Al. Us, along with 6 people that won a contest or something) got to take pictures and get autographs. Al is very mild-mannered when he's not performing and very soft spoken. He was very gracious and appreciative of the things that were given to him. For instance, the MidSouth Garrison of the 501st gave him patches, coins, cards, stickers... and Alex (another member of Chattooine) presented him an Honorary Membership into the Corellian Base of the Rebel Legion.

Afterward, we got out of the armor and watched as the crowd of people gathered around Weird Al's tour bus (little did they know that that one was a decoy) as he made his way onto the other bus and on his way to Columbus. OH.

I just wanted to say that my niece and nephew attended the concert with some friends and had such a wonderful time. And of course being the SW fans that they are snapped plenty of pictures of Lord Vader and the Stormtroopers on stage.
