Even though he makes a mockery of Star Wars I think it's really funny. Anybody know if he is making a song for AOTC?
Is this a spolier?? Anyone think? I wasn't sure?

NO to both, he is not making an AotC spoof and that isn't a spoiler

I don't know if he has a new album coming out, but his last release was 1999's Running With Scissors.

His site, www.weirdal.com, has no news regarding a new album.

There was an interview with tfn some time ago, look at jedi council and then under interviews. There he said that he won't be doing another song like "The saga begins". Well, maybe he'll do another SW-related song on one of his next albums.

But let's face it: The Saga Begins was something you can't repeat. If you did another classic (Al once explained why he chose American Pie for the melody), it would take away from TSB. And I positively DON'T want some 'contemporary' SW pop song, based on some hip hop, cross over or dance, even if done by Al.

And anyway, while TSB was fun, I still think "Yoda" was his better SW parody. Lola... it has more fun with the whole saga, not just the storyline of one (mediocre?) story.

Just my opinion. And I agree that Al should do no more SW parodies... unless EpIII is really ripe for it! (we won't know until spy reports start coming in...)

Perhaps he's not doing one in keeping with Lucasfilm's more subdued promotional policy this time around, lol.

Nevertheless, I live only to look forward to Weird Al's next creative masterpiece. Life would be not worth living without that wry rascal. :)

I love his Star Wars Parodies.

I like Pretty fly (For a Jedi)

Give it to me Obi, Ah Ha Ah Ha

Marillman - Weird Al didn't do "Pretty Fly for a Jedi" (though he would have if he didn't get permission to use American Pie).

He did, however, do "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi". :D

Actually, I really liked TSB. My fave parts are "Their response, it didn't thrill us/They locked the doors and tried to kill us", "We caught a ride back to Naboo/'Cause Queen Amidala wanted to" and "It wasn't long at all before/Little hotshot flew his plane/And saved the day".

    I don't like "Yoda".

Weird Al is my favorite "musician". I like him as much as I like Star Wars. I have seen him in concert 4 times, my first in 1984.

Anyway, I love both Yoda and TSB. Great parodies. I don't think he will do another Star Wars parody though. He looks for "what is hot at the time" to parody.

He is back in the studio working on his next CD. I await this as much as I do Ep.III.

    That's all for now.

    Latre! :D

What about his "Star Wars Cantina"? I still like that one best!!!

"His name was Solo... he was a pirate... with a twinkle in his eyes and a smile twelve parsecs wide... he's with Chewbacca... he was a wookie... they met with Luke and Obi-Wan about the Millenium Falcon, docking bay 94, stormtroppers at the door... why just didn't they all relax, back on Ta-too-ine! At the Star Wars... Star Wars Cantina... the weirdest creatures you've ever seen-er... here at the Star Wars... Star Wars Canteeeee-naaaa... music and blasters and old Jedi masters at the Staaaar Waaaars...."

    Ah, wonderful...

"His name was Yoda... he was a muppet..."

    OK, OK, I'll stop...

mmh... though I messed up the lyrics.

It had to be "with a blaster at his side, and a smile twelve parsecs wide..."

    Aah, whatever...

I don't think the Star Wars Cantina song was Weird Al. Most MP3s of it seem to be labeled that way, but it wasn't him.

Mmh... you're right... I checked out his page, and it definitely says "Star Wars Cantina" is not a Weird Al song... :-(

But it absolutely sounds like him...

    :.-(

    I'm sad now.

It does sound quite a bit like him - my guess is that whoever is singing it is trying to sound like Al.

    That's right.

Even so, Al does do some songs in concert that he doesn't release on CD. (EX. Gee, I'm a Nerd/Free as a Bird & Laundry Day/Come Out and Play)

Anyway, I still like the song. :)

"At the Star Wars/Star Wars Cantina"

You know, I will have this tune in my head for the rest of the day now.

"Music and blasters/and old Jedi masters/at the Staaaar Waaaars"
