Ark Welcome our new CR: hyperspace_police

OK. We discussed this a bit today and since Nyborg13 is retiring we need to choose a new CR:

They need to be somebody who
1. Posts regularly here (like at least every other week)

2. Is not deployable (just so we don't have to do this again within a year)

3. Be at least 18

There isn't really anything that they need to do besides check the CR forum on a regular basis and sort of keep up with folks and make sure that everyone who doesn't have internet
knows when and where meetings and events are.

So, we decided that instead of somebody having to say "I want to do it", for this year we are going to open it up for nominations. The nominated person can accecpt or decline and then we'll vote by pm'ing votes to a moderator.

Thanks for your participation: Nominations will be accecpted through Friday January 25th and voting will take place from the 26th through the 30th. Results will be displayed on Friday the 1st of February.

I don't post a lot cause I don't have my computer yet...

But, If there's not a minimum post count to nominate someone I'd like to nominate hyperspace_police. I think she would do a good job keeping everyone informed and stuff.

Its supposed to say has attended at least 3 meetings/events in the past year.

But , with that said I would be willing to do it for a year. But, only if you guys vote.

 

When we think about it, HP does quite a bit of the group business anyhow. I think she'd do a great job.

 

Just a reminder that midnight tonight is the last chance to nominate somebody. If there is only one person in the pot, so to speak, then do we want to just take that person as the CR? Or would you like to see a yes/no vote?

If there is only one person nominated then I really don't see a need to vote. Just seems kind of silly in my opinion.

 

I'm just waiting to hear back from a mod to make sure we can do it that way.

If we can...I don't see a problem with it cause if you wanted somebody else then I figure you'd nominate them.

 

My thoughts exactly, if one person is nominated (and I have no problem with that - we don't need a run-off just for the sake of having one) why bother having a vote? It doesn't make sense and this is just a fan club. We don't need to be so legalistic and rigid about everything do we? As far as I can tell there's no objections from anyone (at least not in this thread, anyhow), so what could there possibly be to cause a hold-up or delay from making it official?

 

Well. The title of CR has been passed down to me.

However, I will say this: I'm not in charge. I'm our representative to the rest of the GFAA fan folk who are part of the world here at theforce.net.

The rigid structure that we tried failed horribly. We're a fan group. We're in this to enjoy the company of like-minded folks and once in a while run
around in a Star Wars costume.

If anyone has an idea for something to do: Just post an interest thread and go with it... No fancy red tape... No wacky expectations.

Lets get back to having fun... That's why we do this anyways... and if we happen to create some smiles for someone who is having a bad day or some kid
who is going through terrible time... Then that is just an added bonus...

So, with that. Lets try and have a great year!
