    1. I don't know when it will be on the drop-down menu.

    2. Nudity - link, but no imbedding. Being able to share art is the purpose of this forum, but if you abuse that privalege (Hustler.com links or something), then we'll ban you so fast your...hm...watched users list (?) would spin ?[face_plain] ;) When you imbed, just be mindful that not everyone has...mature eyes when they view such things.

Links to art with nakedness in is OK I presume. I teach Secondary art & design (ages 11 - 19) and quite frequently show examples of art containing the naked human form.

As long as it is in context with the discussion at hand?

    Am I right?

Yes, you can link, not embed the images, as long as you provide a warning with the link that it does lead to art containing it.

And for those that are thinking of it, it will only apply to recognised art. Mainly the classical ones like David and the like, NOT anything pornagraphic. If there is one, it will be an automatic one month ban with no guaruntee that you will return.

Who determines what is recognised as art? Does contemporary art fall in to this description? There are several "edgey" contemporary artists out there that have a legitimate artistic right to be shown as do the classical ones.

I'm not saying that it is limited to classical art only, but trying to give an example of what is allowed.

Cool. Just wanted clarification as some art, even "recognised" art is considered pornographic in some quarters.

No problem. But as always, if in doubt, talk to one of us first. Saves a lot of hassles that way.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. Many of Dahli's works have nudity in them, and he is one of my favorite Artists. The way he paints is diffrent, strange, and un-ordinary. I loved that type. :)

OK. However, from an artistic POV, who makes the decision of what can be shown and on what experience of art is this decision being based on? Surely if it is good enough for a gallery (for example) which is open to the public with no restrictions on age then it is OK to post a link to it here. All within the constraints of the discussion at hand.

I apologise if I'm coming across as anal but the very subject of legitimate art being "approved" for viewing is intriging to me.

NB: I accept that the server is restricted to US law which makes the question even more intriging.

I don't mind at all Asa. This is how we come to define the rules, by throwing examples at them.

If it's a respected gallery, with no restrictions on the entry, then it would be okay, as long as the other constraints are met, and it's in a discussion of art.

And I do have to admit, that I am unfamiliar with US law on this. Mind you, law in relation to the internet is rather lax.

OK, cool. Here I go again....

Who defines what a respectable gallery is? I know of several galleries in London that go against the staus quo of the accepted art world. However, many contemporary artists show there. These galleries are open to the public. Often new (contemporay) art is not respectable because of the very nature of breaking down boundaries and asking questions.

I promise, no more questions on this matter for at least a day!

I find this all very fascinating that we are talking about respectabilty, recognised art and in a way censorship (I'll leave that discussion for another day). :)

    Cheers

    Asa

    Fascinating for sure.

When I say respectable, I don't mean it in the totally classical sense of the word. More of a case that as long as it's a place that young people can be taken to by the general public.

    OK. Understood.

I may have to submit a few links for "inspection" before I bring them up for discussion however.

Different countries can have different boundries...

    Up....to lend support.

How many minutes are being allowed for edit?
Same 90 as for the Senate?

Edit: The clock shows 78 minutes left to edit, so I guess my question is answered. :p

Pretty much, yeah. If you want to review a movie, head over to the JCC. If you want to discuss the movie (which you will find is vastly different from reviewing it), you can start a thread in here.

There are too many "Appreciation" threads.(I cannot tell a lie, even I started one :p ) I think you should try to downsize on them Bane.

That depends. Appreciation in the terms of discussion about a particular topic is and should be allowed. An appreciation thread that just praises something without real discussion should be "pruned".

True. Feel free to either point them out or steer them to discussion. Do you want to destroy a thread, or help it grow?

You are your own Internet Deity!!
