Forgot to mention I had a lower lingual arch put in at the same time as the palate expander.

Ooooh me too! I got one while my friends got their braces. They thought it was "Poser Braces." And of course they got their braces off when I was getting mine on so they weren't cool any more. :(

I'm happy I'll never have to deal with a palatal expander again. The lingual arch wasn't bad, but the expander ... ugh!

I had braces with the rubber band things. I barely remember the experience, but have no fear, SLG, I am very grateful that I have nicer teeth than you. :D

No, fortunately I was born without any serious ambulatory or bone structure issues and, as polio had mostly been eliminated via vaccination in the United States at the time of my birth, I was never at any risk of developing them. Consequently I have avoided wearing braces, barring serious future joint conditions.

Well just consider yourself lucky that the vaccine didn't give you autism.

Yeah, I had one of those expanders. God, that thing was the bane of my existence. What suffering. And the rubber bands and the headgear . . . I think I had braces for about three years maybe. My teeth were really jacked up though, so I'm glad I got them fixed. But yeah, there was some serious pain during the process.

Headgear, plate, braces, plate, and still have a wire on my teeth. From December 1997 to December 1999 I had braces.
