Please see the TFN main page today to see that SW is still the best of any movies series ever made period.

    1) Favorite film of all time for men STAR WARS
    2) Best Presold copies of the OT DVD's on Amazon of all time.

But then we already knew that didn't we.

What blew me away was how far down LOTR was from SW, I really did expect it to be closer, check out the link on the main TFN page.

Hurrah! Mainstream acceptance! Finally, I can walk down the street in Ewok slippers, Jawa t-shirt and toy lightsaber twirling at my side, head held high!

SW and LOTR are great films. great films dont need awards and honors to make them special.

    Awards not make one great!

It's not a popularity contest. But it's still sort of nice.

I love Star Wars (obviously). It doesn't surpise how far up the list it is. Isn't ANH the number 4 highest selling movie of all time? Gone With the Wind is the number 1 movie I think.

Give LOTR another 25 years; I'm only 18. I love both sets of films, but I'm willing to bet that LotR will become the Star Wars of my generation.

Does that mean that in about 20 years, we're gonna see a PT and a Special Edition for LotR?

I've been at Jedi-Con this weekend and that was far more convincing that not only Star Wars still rules and will rule for a long time, but that Fandomm is amazing, too. I never felt more comfortable in a crowd.

I can't put into words how good Star Wars is, but I can't seem to convince some of my friends. It's very frustrating when they constantly make fun of it and haven't really even watched it. (It's always the long droid scenes early in ANH that turn them off. One of them even watched TPM as his first SW movie, what do you expect?) But the truth is, the jokes on them, it's their loss if they don't like SW.

Of course it is still number 1. But I am surprised LOTR didn't make the top ten and since it didn't make it now at its peake I don't think it will go above SW as the all time favourite. I think most of the fans are either at the SW age or older. Therefore I think this is the first indication that SW will be number 1 - always. But I certainly don't think this list is that great (apart from SW). These are certainly not films that I am interested in watching again.

    P.S.: How low was LOTR?

LOTR is not crap on a stick. If Peter Jackson would've directed Ep III, I'd sleep well at night.

It's funny...now that LOTR is all wrapped up, I don't really find myself thinking about the movies or stories too much. I read the books long ago, and was looking forward to seeing the movies, but now that the hype is gone, so is alot of my interest. I'm not so sure that these movies will stand the test of time.

Star Wars on the other hand...just reverbates something with a seemingly broader audience. Everyone knows about SW. And while LOTR has been around longer, due to the books, not everyone it seems saw the movies, or will want to see them again and again. That's why Star Wars is on top :D

True. I'll admit that I was excited about seeing Return of the King opening day, but much like the Matrix, now that everything is over, I am not all that interested in it all anymore. I'll probably watch them many more times in my life, but its nowhere as important to me as Star Wars is.

    Hey, its my 3,700th post.

That may be so, but there's still a Star Wars movie to come. Only after that movie is out of the theaters, the comparison holds weight.
