We'll make great pets, we'll make great pets.

Have you ever had a pet, or have you owned multiple pets in your lifetime? If so, what was it(Dog, cat, goldfish, etc.), and what was his/her name?

 

I've had fish which we only named the one that kept eating all the others.
His name was Spike.

We had gerbils when I was young. They were named Benji and Snoopy.

We also had a rabbit when I was young. Her name was Molly. She was fat and I named her after a fat girl at school. That was mean, but it was in second grade...

 

Six cats in my lifetime.

Hamish - ginger Tom cat. Died age 22.

Florence - black and white moggy - died aged 21.


Pasha - black female - died age 6.

Willow - died at 6 months. Ran over.


Charlie - white and grey Persian. Died age 10 - of an almost complete system failure one night.


Clarence - Birman - nearly two and still going.



I get very attached to my cats, and have cried buckets when each of them has died. I love having a cat.

Pets are for weaklings

 

For the record, I have two cats. One's named Iffy (short for Ifegenia) and the other's name is Shea.

*waits for jokes about men with cats*

 

I've owned a total of 13 cats-- 6 of which were two litters of stray kittens that my family and I later gave put up for adoption through a humane society; my family owns three now, three died of old age (one at 21), and the last one had a weird list of ailments and her liver failed because (normally) benign eardrops somehow got into her blood.

Two dogs, one of which died of old age and another is getting old but still around.

Four parakeets; two died of old age, one got sick and pretty much starved itself, and another managed to escape.

One cockatiel that I actually found outside; she's still around.

One rabbit that died of old age.

A few fish that I've owned personally (betas), and countless ones owned by my brother (only animals that tolerate him, and that's because they can't get away).

Wow, I've never realized it was that many. Oh, there's also a few feral cats that my family has fed over the years if that counts.
