But The Godfather II & ESB are supposed to be the greatest sequels ever made
Even if they re-did the 100 greatest film poll, I doubt LOTR would come in higher then 3rd behind the Godfather/Godfather II & A New Hope/ESB

To Quote the dying words of Kenny:

"Madonna is an old anorexic whore who wore out her welcome years ago, and now she speaks with a British accent and thinks she can play guitar and should be made to go **** herself!"
(well, thats as close to it as I can remember)

    =D=

That and she cant sing :p

But she's had a great impact on music. Whether you believe it was for better or for worse. And therefore a place in the top 100...

In the same way I despise Guns N Roses, I can't deny that they had an impact on music. You say for better. I'd say for worse.

*runs away from Guns N Roses fans*

What did G&R actually do for music? I try and think, but I just can't get it.

I dunno. Perhaps they were just there at the right time when people were looking to worship a guitarist with a top hat and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth the entire time. Or perhaps a lead singer in the tightest leather pants you'll ever see...

They did some good songs, better ones then half the bands in that list.
Plus Axl Rose was funny to listen to, and Slash is one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived.

Well, Axl was a terrible singer, let's be honest. Abd Slash, is one of the best guitarists to have ever have lived. However, does that make Velvet Revolver oneof the best bads ever? Didn't think so...

Well after Elvis, The Beatles and The Sex Pistols- what has anyone else done for music?

TK, you're forgetting Bob Dylan [face_shame_on_you]

Guns n Roses had better songs :p

Plus Velvet revolver are only good cos they pinched most of the Guns n Roses members :p

Very debateable. Gun's 'N' Roses - Axl + better vocalist= Much beter band.

Ah, but they are basically GNR, just without Axl, which is no bad thing.

Hmmm, Ok this conversations seems to be going round in circles...

Mustafar, you still haven't explained why a Madonna album doesn't deserve a spot in the 100 greatest poll...

Cos Madonna, although influential, is rubbish :p

And according to some weird website I found it says Guns n Roses are still together
That would be hard since Axl is a recluse and the rest of the members are in Velvet Revolver
And the last concert they did that I know of was in 1992

Shame that Velvet Revolver cant produce the amount of quality songs that Guns n Roses did

GNR are still together in the same sense that Queens of the Stone Age are together. The only original members are the lead singers (Axl Rose and Josh Homme respectively). And VR are a better band than GNR. Their vocalist isn't quite as annoying.

Oh god! I think someone has missed the point about why GNR were so succesful in the first place!

Because the world was desperate, it seems.

And Madonna doesn't deserve a place in this list because it appears to be a Top 100 rock albums. Madonna is cheesy pop.

Can somebody please clarify what kind of "top 100" list this is exactly?

There's little point in debating the merits of Madge and G&R if they don't even qualify to be on there in the first place.

Theres no point in having influential bands/singers on the list if they aren't actually any good.

Duran Duran were very influential and popular at their time, and I quite like some of their songs, but they shouldn't be on the list.
Elvis was great, but I dont think he really did any good albums, although many of his songs are good.

I'd imagine it'd be a Top 100 rock albums. Seeing as how it's by NME of course.
