    I just watched the Empire Strikes Back for the umpteenth time, and I was just wondering, what exactly is outside the window of the ship that Luke and Leia are on?

    [image=http://www.theforce.net/multimedia/archive/Images/Classic_Trilogy/Cards/Topps_Widevision_ESB/esbwv141.jpg]

    Is that the galaxy they live in? they are kind of far out if it is.

    Well I guess the card picture that I posted explains it- it's a galaxy. Is it theirs?

    Actually, I heard the object Luke And Leia are looking at is the Rishi Maze, referred to by Obi-Wan in AOTC.

    The novel and screenplay describe it as a galaxy. Whether it is their own or another...that's a different story.

    I think its a different galaxy because, according to EU it is widely believed to be impossible to travel intergalacticly.

    According to the AOTC DVD text commentary, it's the Rishi Maze.

    This may sound repetitive, but it is in fact the Rishi Maze, I think it's some sort of star cluster. You can see this same image on the screen in the Jedi Archives in AOTC. They were somewhere near Kamino.

    It is most definitely not a galaxy though. Galaxies do not noticeably spin.

    Couldn't it be a star?

    Until the Vong invaded you are correct, but after that. . .their theories had to change.

    Inside the Worlds of Attack of the Clones says that Kamino is located within a Dwarf Satelite Galaxy, this is located within the actual Star Wars Galaxy itself just inside of its orbit, so its actually possible that the ESB Novelization is correct as well as the Rishi Maze explanation.

    That would have to be really high on the z-axis to see that much of their own galaxy.

    I always thought it was the galaxy that held the planet Bespin but now I must go and re-think my thoughts

    I think it's been confirmed as The Rishi Maze or it could be the Kessel Run.

    The Kessel Run is a black hole cluster near the planet Kessel (which is on the Rimward side of Hutt Space, about 15 degrees counterclockwise from Tatooine).

    It could not be the Hoth system, because it is the Rishi Maze.

    If its never said on film how can be official that is the maze? I hear all the time here that we can't take things as Star Wars Law until it says it on film. Case in point, Owen/Ben brothers and lots more things.
