    Im glad you enjoyed it. I HATED the ending! It was like everything was completly rushed an flipped upside down.

    Finished Red Harvest... not bad, but the best part was the section at the back. The preview for Knight Errant :p

    Read and enjoyed Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro.

    Finished Return of the Crimson Guard and now 1/4 through Toll the Hounds in the Malazan series. Glad to be back in Darujistan.

    Idri: [face_laugh] One day I plan on reading your fully completed, published works :D

    ImpKnight: Is Kingdoms also by Weeks?

    JS: It?s hard to pick a ?first book? because there are several trilogies/quartets that take place at different times, and different people start at different places. However, the author recommends reading them in publishing order (which is what I did, and what I recommend). A list is here ? IMO Deryni Rising is the best place to start. Good luck finding them!! (Sometimes they?re out of print, as the older ones are several decades old.)

    Thanks! I ll look em up.

    Book 8 is the only Malazan book that I have bitched about so far. The story is good I just had a hard time with certain POVs in it. But yeah Id consider it neutral lol!

    Hypothetically, speaking. Since they're all hypothetical right now. I live in the land of hypothetical, which probably isn't the best career choice. 8-}

    Are you bitching about Nimander?

    I gotta say, there are some "oh god the world is so depressingly depressing and life is futile" POVs, that's for sure. But Kruppe makes up for it. :D

    YES I AM!!!! I hate his POV in this one so much which sux cause I really like the kid in BH or RG that is also in.

    Kingdom of Thorn and Bone is by Greg Keyes, its a 4 book saga.

    Ditto on the talking orchid, LAJ. [face_laugh] But Red Harvest is an extremely well-written book. There are far too few Star Wars novels that are really written like novels, rather than halfhearted attempts at fan fiction that just goes on way too long. Joe Schrieber is a talented writer, even though his books are genuinely disgusting sometimes. :p

    Finished Red Harvest. I actually liked it, despite the belief suspension.

    During the Christmas holiday I read a fair amount of fantasy. I reread Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and it remains my favourite among the HP books. Then I finished Towers of Midnight and that took about a week. For some reason I thought it was slower and harder than The Gathering Storm to get into. Nevertheless, I look forward to the next book.

    Now I have started Tanith Lee's Cast a bright shadow and although I am only 40 pages into it I really enjoy it. She has a certain way with words that helps create a sense of a magical story. Also, the setting (a very icy environment like the North Pole) is refreshingly different.

    We're a long way away from that, Nat. :p

    Finished Red Harvest, which was delightfully disgusting, and moving on to Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke. Neil Gaiman recommended it, so it should be interesting, to say the least. :D

    [face_laugh] Well, let us know when you're published :D

    I've heard of it, but I've never read it.

    (Though I did pack my copies of LOTR in the two bins of books I dragged down to school :p )

    And I thought I was crazy transporting all my books in two bags. :p (Those big, black reusable grocery bags, to be precise). [face_laugh]

    Though, to be honest, my largest and heaviest book is also a +800 paged vegetarian cookbook, so... yeah. 8-}

    Nat, I think you need a Kindle or an iPad or something. :p

    E-book readers are for wimps. :p

    I've got so many books in the house that my mom has been raiding my closet and dumping the poor things in the garage. In boxes. I don't know where they're going, but it looks like they're going on a trip. [face_laugh]
