I've been taking an extended break from writing my first novel.

My novel, and before you ask, no, it's not going well.

Besides that, I'm working on two bachelors degrees from SJSU. My English BA will be completed this year; my psych BA will take a little more time. After that, graduate school.

I'm just trying to save you from making the mistakes I've made.

 

But... I... well, you see... people... like... gotta get a Masters to do jack-****....

 

I was referring more to the incalculable psychological toll grad school can take but, sure, finances can also factor in.

 

Can we at least ask what your novel is about. Mine's called The Seven and is about the Mercury astronauts and the early days of the space program. I'm hoping it'll be the first installment in a series that I'm calling Dreams of the High Frontier.

 

Oh, psychological factors, I see. Lucky for me, my psyche has already been completely hollowed out, so no problem there, Ramza.

Chancellor, it's about a family whose oldest sister goes missing. Thanks to being aboard a passenger plane that gets abducted by a giant space-faring octopus, they find themselves in the same world their sister disappeared to and set out to find her. It's like Gone Girl, minus misogyny, meets Homeward Bound in a Middle Earth/Narnia-like setting, except the main characters are actual people instead of lost pets. New Adult genre.

It's a terrible pitch, I know. That's why it's not going well.

on that song i did do all the production, but obviously there are four of us rapping. lately my friend mark and i have been taking turns on the production duties. i hope to have the record up this week, just needs a few little tweaks and some artwork.

I left work one hour ago and I'm studying for an Art History test. I'm also writing, both a piece for a nerdy Star Wars site that recently recruited me and an article for a magazine back in Spain. I'm also translating forms and letters into Spanish for the school district. And I'm homebreaking a kitty whenever I have a break. This morning, I'm not bored.

 

Scavenging dirty glassware from abandoned labs. Another day int the glamorous life of a low-budget scientist. Be jealous.
