what are your star wars collections? don't be shy to admit if you've got only a few. its known that SW merchandise are not easy to come by here in the Philippines 'specially way back in the 70s and 80s.

also if you've got stories to share on how you acquired/ nearly acquired a particular item, do tell us :)

i'll post my stuff later. i have to make an inventory ;)

i only have the vcds as a collection really.

i'm afraid that if i start buying boks or comics, baka ma-obsess pa ako. magastos.

pero my neatest collectible is an original copy of the novelization of Star Wars (A New Hope). i just found it sa bookshop in davao. for P50. and it has these neat info and pictures from the movie. and it was published noong 1970s pa. =)

I have a Darth Vader and Darth Sidious action figure. Filbar's sells these today for 95 bucks, so u better hurry while supplies last. They are excess items from China, so they tend to be defective. I had to repaint my Sidious.

I used to have a snowspeeder, but when we transferred to our current apartment i couldnt find it anywhere...dammit.

And of course, my trusty ol' lightsaber. Just got it a few days ago. The Obi-Wan variety, complete with lights and sounds. Anyone up for a duel? It's getting pretty boring if you're lonely with no on to duel with. :p

Oh, man you're gonna hate me for this.

When I was a kid, I had this really, really big collection of SW toys and I mean, the original Kenner-made action figures. I had almost every character from the OT, from the skinny-legged Han Solo and Luke Skywalker with the lightsaber hidden right up his arm from ANH to Wicket and a Scout Trooper with matching Speeder Bike from ROTJ. Of course, my dream was to have the Millenium Falcon but I had to do with an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter.

Now, notice why I keep referring to them in the past tense? Well, when we moved in 1986, my parents sort of lost track where exactly they kept my toys. Maybe that's one of the reasons I became such a rebellious teenager. :D

I guess the lesson here is: always keep track of your prized possessions.

Well, I buy all the books that I see here in the Philippines. Which is why I'm so frustrated that bookstores here are not acquiring the latest ones anymore.

I have some posters, the Jollibee and KFC stuff, the OT SE VCDs and VHS, 2 VHS tapes of TPM (one widescreen format), 1 DVD of TPM, and a Darth Maul costume and lightsaber =D

And I have some of the SW Insider Magazines too. The latest ones are still with my sister in the US.

my current acquisition is a set of AOTC Collector's Postage Stamps from Australia. :)

unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to collecting the toys.

I am aiming to acquire most of the books.

My current mission though, is to try and acquire as many John Williams soundtracks as I can. And I am having a very difficult time. If you guys have any leads, especially on CDs of the OT soundtracks, please get in touch with me. :)

I have a set of star wars action figures in a lunch box launched 1978 and I also have another set of star wars action figures which has a darth vader's head as a case, this was launched during 1980.

I also collected some action figures when the trilogy was released again, then episode 1 and episode 2.

Yes! I am a star wars action figure addict!

well, i'm sure there are others here who have more stuff than i do (like Darth Evader ;)). as much as i would have wanted to collect all the TPM stuff (action figures, lightsabres etc) i really couldn't afford that much since i was but a poor college student back then :p. and my folks didn't bother to buy me any of the original SW action figures since they were afraid (more like paranoid) that i would swallow them. so they bought me Lego stuff instead (i know that doesn't make sense, but then again, neither does parents)

i do remember when i was a kid of seeing an actual R2-D2 unit for sale (i couldn't remember where exactly it was, but i'm sure it was in the Philippines). i remember the sales person was claiming that it was one of the actual R2 units used when filming. apparently it was one of those electronic versions since the R2 unit was supposedly able to roll around and you can attach a tray on it like it does ROTJ (wouldn't that be nifty for parties?). we were this close to buying it, but my mom complained where the heck we were gonna store it in the tiny apartment we had back then, plus the other inconveniences of having it around when we move, that it doesn't have any real purpose other than it would be my and my dad's biggest toy, and she complained about it collecting dust and it getting all rusty and everything (you know, usual wife/mother rants). so alas, we walked out of the store without R2 :(. now i tell her what a missed opportunity that was, and that she can only imagine how much that "prop" (as she called it) would be valued at now. *sigh* :(

hold on to your Zam Wessel's coz the one's released here are w/ the "quick draw action" sticker(it is a variant).

Also check how many red spots are there in your clonetrooper's chest. Those with three red spots are variants.

"variants" are action figures that are most likely to be called "factory defects".

These "variations" can be seen either on the card, the bubble, the accessories or on the figure itself.

For example, the Zam Wessel released in the Philippines have the "Quick Draw Action" sticker, while the ones released in the US has the "Face Revealed" sticker. And these variations are usually of higher value than the common.

Check out brianstoys.com and look for these variations. I also recommend sirstevesguide.com. :)

i'm proud to have all the figure releases of jar-jar binks. kidding aside, i have almost completed the '98 Expanded Universe figures save for Kyle Katarn; nearing to complete my collection of the last wave of POTF2 Commtech save for Wuhrer; have both the 3.5" and 12" scale of Han & Tauntaun; almost complete line of Vader 3.5" figs; i even have the vader w/rem helmet freeze frame with the translucent saber. the rest are common cards.

with the release of the SAGA line, i may have to move my bed, table and chair out of my room to make way for more space.
