first of all, dont do this

second of all it was a joking reference to a rather famous alternate-history novel by a rather famous author, Philip Roth's The Plot Against America

Oh. Never heard of that book, so I didn't get the joke. IRL, Lindbergh was accused of being a Nazi sympathizer, so I assumed you were going that route. My apologies.

well he was a nazi sympathizer, that's why the author picked him as the pro-nazi president in the book

there were plenty of nazi sympathizers in the united states, prominent and non, as is only to be expected. antisemitism, purity of blood, and expansionism were hardly alien ideas to 1930s americans

Speer: The Final Verdict, by Joachim Fest (translation of Speer: Eine Biographie).

Overwritten intellectual quicksand that reaches the conclusion...gasp...that Inside the Third Reich might be a
self-serving work to gloss over Speer's relationship with Hitler.

I'm about to start The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks. I had to re-read the last couple chapters of The Blinding Knife to refresh myself before diving in.

"Swallowing Darkness" by Laurell K. Hamilton. I'm on a Hamilton binge and need to finish before work starts up (Teachers shouldn't be seen reading erotica).

I recently finished "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." I've wanted to read it for a while, since reading Heinlein's "Number of the Beast." He just described it so beautifully with places and characters I had not been exposed to in the film. I am glad, however, that the intro warns that it is a children's book. I read it on the Kindle app on my phone, so I'm not sure if the length would have tipped me off to that had I seen it in book form. The amount of conflict and writing style were not what I was expecting to be sure. I found the second half was much more enjoyable than the first, but I'm not certain yet if I would want to continue in the series or move on to something else.

Battle cry of Freedom: 100 pages left. Been a very enjoyable read, very informative , but damn it took me all summer to read the thing. I've been slow this year.

Got to hurry, because I'm a man of tradition and usually always read a few classics fiction books in September. Then a science fiction novel in October. Which I have already picked out, "Ancillary Justice."

I still have Punk Rock Jesus and Seconds to finish straight after "Battle Cry"
