A little more than halfway through Footprints in the Dust. Great Apollo book. The idea of having a different author write each chapter is just genius. This easily up there with A Man on the Moon as one of the best Apollo books I have ever read.

The Peshawar Lancers by SM Stirling. It's a decent 200 page story jampacked somehow into a 500 page book. Part alternate history, part Boys' Own pulp adventure, part psychic horror, part steampunk worldbuilding, part Kipling travelogue. I have a fairly low tolerance for long descriptions of clothing and settings (unless they're by JRRT) so I skimmed a lot of paragraphs, and it was still a longer read than it should have been, IMO. I might not have finished it, but it had enough swordplay and zeppelins to keep me going to the end.

You should check out the Ring of Fire universe. It falls under the genre of AH, but its much better written.

Queen of the Tearling is still disappointing. Will it join The Night Circus and Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore on my "never finished" list? We shall see.

By next week this time I will probably be well into Armada...

The Scarlet Letters was quite interesting, my only real criticism has to do with the group of "heroes" who had a constant "**** it" and "**** you" attitude and dialogue. I didn't expect Pinhead's journey to go where it did, but his entire side of the story is good and left me with some great visuals.

    Moving on.

I guess it's not technically a book, but I've just discovered Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality this morning. The result has been something close to this:

LOL Yudkowsky. My "favorite" part of that fic is when Draco talks about how he'd like to revenge rape one of his professors and Harry just sort of brushes it off because rape is bad I guess, *shrug*.

So far, I've only read about Draco wanting to rape Luna Lovegood. I've been reading so far with a mixture of fascination and abject horror. Ron and Harry not friends? Wuuuut? :(
